>believing that WWII actually happened
American education everyone
As far as plane movies go.

how did tim honks blow up that tank with a pistol?
>>70381437
Explosive rounds. Duh.
>>70380875
>actually recommending that garbage
>>70381165
My friend who is a tank autists said it was shit. I do care sometimes abouta authentisity an such, but I understand storytelling is more than that. Is is good /tv/?
Platoon

It's good if you're not autistic like him and don't care about that stuff

WUZ

>OP unrelated

>Unnecessary cameos: the movie.
It was beautiful, but Malick when completely overboard, crammed way to much stuff in there and got lost.

WUZ
DAS BOOT

apocalpse now

All Quiet on the Western Front
Die Brücke(50s version)
Talvisota
Stalingrad(1993)
Cross of Iron(only the first movie)
Das Boot
A Bridge too Far
Bridge on the River Kwai
Merry Christmas
A very long engagement
Passchendaele(if you can ignore the crappy loveplot taking the whole middle part of the movie)
Fury(would call it the best of this decade if it wasn't for the Hollywood ending. First 2/3s are 9/10 last 1/3 after the Tiger fight is 5/10)
Band of Brothers & The Pacific (no movies but great nonetheless)
Eastwood's Iwo Jima movies
1944
There are many more(Finnish movies are nice) but these are among the best for movies that actually depict combat and dont focus on other aspects of the war(partisans, resistance, Einsatzgruppen, etc.)
Honorable mentions:
Saving Private Ryan(excellent beginning, after that it's just the standard ebul Germins and honorabre brave 'merricuns(except Upham ofc))
Warhorse(when it comes to authentic WWI equipment it's superb but in the end it's a horse movie that you could even show to children. also still classic Spielberg anti-German scene: WWI horse holocaust. sure thing Stephen)
>no Enemy at the Gates
>>70383043
>muh ebin sniper battles
>>70383043
OP asked for the best.
Enemy at the Gates has nice production value but is lacking authenticity which makes it only pretty good
But if you include movies like this theres tons more:
Stalingrad(2013)
Tali-Ihantala 1944
Etulinjan Edessä
Windtalkers
Age of Heroes
Tobruk
Days of Glory
Intimate Enemies
Unsere Mütter unsere Väter
Beneath Hill 60
Lighthorsemen
etc
>>70382004
yep
COME AND SEE (1984)
Set from the Russian perspective during the war, follows a young boy who descends into insanity due to the war. Absolutely terrifying.
>>70383569
is that the one where he shot hitler's portrait or sum shit
>>70383607
Yes at the end.
>>70384999
nice trips, forgot what that scene was about. why was he shooting at a picture?
Das Boot
Die Brucke
Stalingrad
Downfall
Battle of Britain
The Longest Day
A Bridge too far.
Come and See
To be honest there's far too many to remember it's the GOAT genre
>>70381979
You're friends a faggot. All the silliness and unlikeable characters is completely negligible in a movie with a legit Tiger 1 doing Ballet gun to gun with a Sherman.
Sure it was almost approaching the barrel fencing scene in Girls und Panzer but I was still wet as fuck. Just think of it as Flames of War: The movie and it's a modern masterpiece.
The Credits are clearly Flames of War inspired.

Remembering that Hitler used to be a kid too that dindu nuffin. And thus that shooting people is bad generally.
War creating monsters or something
Ending can mean whatever you want
