There's a romance to the production of The Lord of the Rings trilogy that'll probably never be seen again on a grand-scale movie set. Every department got over 3 years to perfect their work to ensure that what we saw on screen was their absolute best. Watch 30 seconds of one of those weta workshop videos from the original trilogy and the collective passion and dedication is evident in everyone, every prop, every miniature. They poured their lives into making those movies, giving up years of their career. That creative licence and commitment to not cutting corners is something we'll never see again. No studio will ever green-light a project like that again.
