I marathoned the entire series last Halloween.

Even at it lowest point it was still really creative with great effects and Englund hamming it up

Funny, I'm in my mid 30's and would vote for Sanders if he gets the nomination. Too bad it'll be Clinton, but I'll take her over the lunatic the GOP has to nominate.

It's okay, when you actually grow up you'll look back and cringe at the thought of voting for Trump.

It took the story in a different direction. Freddy failed in the first movie, and tried something different in the second movie. Wish this trend would have continued.
>>

Might have been cool. Just like I wish they would have done the anthology theme like Carpenter wanted to do with Halloween. I still think Halloween 3 is the best of the series.

>>
>>70368422
But it was awful anon.
Freedy is nice because he's cheesy, in the remake he was all edgy and serious
Frankly 80s slashers were all about cheese and jump scares, they were never scary at all so I fail to see the need for such a serious and grim villain

Incredibly cheesy but in the best and funniest way possible. Just like cheese, it gets better with age.

Watched it again this past halloween at some theater in new york. The place was packed and everyone was either stoned or drunk. Probably the funnest theater-going experience of my life
>>

Just finished Part 2. What?

Why does it remove all the rules from the first movie and contradict everything you learned? The movie make no sense.
>>
>>70371900
because fuck you.
>>
>>70365859
The soundtrack and effects are impeccable.
>>
>>70371900
Basically. The people who made 2 didn't care about the original at all. If you do watch the whole series check out Never Sleep Again. It's a documentary detailing the entire franchise and it's really interesting.
>>
>>70371900
Part 2 was goat, all the gay undertones make it hilarious.
>>
>>70371667
A 40 yo guy do not kidnap and murder little girls without having a rape vibe.

It was probably too heavy for a simple horror movie, but it's clearly insinuated.
>>

>>70371991
It's not horrible, but it's like if Jason went to the desert and started to kill people using a gun.

To me it was a mishmash of great horror ideas and weird cheese moments.

That hallway dead girl scene still makes me slightly uncomfortable, but then they inserted shit like "HEY WATCH THIS!" *Cuts off fingers and green goo spurts out*

>>
>>70372037
Well, if it was intended, it went over basically everyone's head. If rape had been implied sufficiently enough for anyone from the period to catch on (and I do mean anyone), kreuger would not have achieved such anti-hero status. As rape, even then, sent people fleeing from any sort of allowances such as letting your 8-10 year old dress up as freddy kreuger for halloween.
>>
>>70372075
The point is it was a period of extreme experimentation in the horror genre. They figured out young teens were viscerally afraid of the homosex, so they, in attempt to make the scarieist movie possible, filled the sequel with homosexual under, over, and inside-out tones.

Serious question, are these movies supposed to be enjoyable because they're bad or something?

The first one is alright, the second one is so bad it hurts. That girl is possibly the worst actress I have ever seen. Plus she defeats Freddie by kissing him. For real.

Dream Warriors is hyped as fuck and it starts out great but quickly devolves into cheesy nonsense and completely shits on itself.
>>
>>70372366
Yeah, and somehow heterosexual love is what made freddies exit the body of the guy. That was not that subtle though.
>>
>>70372411
it was mostly kids who liked them
>b-but muh R
No one gave much of a shit.
>>
>>70372411
I would consider these to be the "good" ones:
Nightmare on Elm Street
Dream Warriors
Dream Master (just barely)
New Nightmare
Freddy vs Jason (fuck you I liked it)

The rest are ham and cheese like most horror sequels that came after a classic original.
>>
>>70372411
Well they are kinda like Hellraiser and I think that's what kickstarted the genre of "Helpless people are being cut into pieces/Gore Porn"

Nightmare On Elm - 8/10*
Freddy's Revenge 5/10
Dream Warriors 7.5/10*
Dream Masters 5.5/10
Dream Child 6/10
Freddy's Dead 5.5/10
New Nightmare7.5/10*
F v J 6/10

There are 3 very effective movies in the series but the rest are pretty fun in their own way with some being more fun than others.

I was a kid at the time and my friends and I all got that he was an implied kiddie fiddler.
>>
>>70368194
I didn't know other people shared this opinion with me.
I always see people jizzing about part 1 and 3, but honestly to me part 3 is where it started going down hill where it got too hammy to take seriously.

I mean don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the movies, it's just part 1 and 2 are the ones that are more horror than comedy.
>>
>>70370712

We don't know if he ever actually rapped them but he definitely got something very sexual out of it even if that is not the care.

Many serial killers kill their victims and a bunch of feelings and one of them is commonly something akin to a sexual high.
>>
>>70372623
It took too long for this to come up. One of the better tie-in songs for a movie in my opinion.
>>
>>70370597

Part 2 is the worst in the series to be totally honest. Not really scary and not campy.
>>
>>70371576

Nightmare On Elm - 10/10 the mother of all horror movies
Freddy's Revenge 9/10 many people don't get it, it's a diamond in the rough
Dream Warriors 7.5/10 would be 5/10 if it wasn't for the QT
Dream Masters 8/10 it's pretty much Die Hard meets Elm Street
Dream Child 0/10 what? who? can't even remember anything of that movie
Freddy's Dead 4/10 first movie based on memes rather than creating them
New Nightmare 0/10* franchise is dead just let it go
F v J 3/10 ok I guess

I think Freddy should have appeared once at the end. Too many jump scares and playing for a child killer.
>>
>>70368194
Part 3 is still my personal favorite but part 2 is probably my second favorite followed by New Nightmare.

The scene where Freddy starts killing all the kids at the pool party is amazing.

7/10 is generous for that, unless your scale goes up to 15/10

Part Two tends to get a ton of shit, but I like it. At least it had some creepy moments compared to the later sequels

Freddy's Revenge - 6/10
Dream Warriors - 8.5/10
Dream Masters - 7/10
Dream Child - 4/10
Freddy's Dead - 4/10
New Nightmare - 8/10
Freddy vs Jason - 7.5/10

I watched all the movies when I was kid in the late 80s and early 90s, my sister and cousin made me watch it.

I saw these movies recently and can see some of the undertones:

>First movie was about teens sexual development and not trusting their parents or any adult really

>The second has extremely heavy homosexual overtones, this was the heyday of Reaganism and the AIDS epidemic, heterossexual love saves the protagonist from turning into child fiddler Freddy!

> 3, 4 and 5 are like their own trilogy inside the series (Dream Warriors, Dream Master and Dream Child), its here where it Goes full campy and Freddy is almost a comedian like the Joker but still was fun in the 80s way.

>6 was a 90s movie without the charm of the 80s, bad campyness and movie overall.

>7 Wes Craven cash grab

>FxJ not a terrible movie, almost feel like a 80s movie.

>the remake was just awful, Rooney Mara ruined a bunch of franchises.
