Well, if it was intended, it went over basically everyone's head. If rape had been implied sufficiently enough for anyone from the period to catch on (and I do mean anyone), kreuger would not have achieved such anti-hero status. As rape, even then, sent people fleeing from any sort of allowances such as letting your 8-10 year old dress up as freddy kreuger for halloween.

The point is it was a period of extreme experimentation in the horror genre. They figured out young teens were viscerally afraid of the homosex, so they, in attempt to make the scarieist movie possible, filled the sequel with homosexual under, over, and inside-out tones.

I watched all the movies when I was kid in the late 80s and early 90s, my sister and cousin made me watch it.
I saw these movies recently and can see some of the undertones:
