HAYAO MIYAZAKI VS WALT DISNEY

Who do you prefer faggots?

>Hayao Miyazaki
>>
>>70305850
Miyazaki, Walt was more of a business man than an artist.
>>
>>70305905
>Walt was more of a business man
No he wasn't, walt crashed the business into the ground. The onyl reason disney is still around is Roy Disney taking overt tje business side of things
>>
It's hard to say. Miyazakis films are beautiful but aside from spirited away and moving castle, I find them pretty boring
>>
Walt, easily
>>
>>70306444

Yes, I also adore the boring shitfest that is Howl's Moving Castle.
>>
Walt Disney made quality animated AND live action movies, so the answer is objectively him.
>>
>>70305850
Miyazaki. Don't care for Disney. And I'm not even a weaboo.
>>
>/a/ has a thread about Miyazaki
>even the weebs agree Walt was better
>OP comes and asks /tv/
Walt is still better faggot
>>
Disney helped fun the Nazis and practically invented animation. Walt all the fucking way
>>
I don't recall Miyazaki hating jews so Disney.
>>
Miyazaki had admitted that Walt's animations are what I spired him. Is Walt wasn't as good as he was then Miyazaki woukd have never even been. It's clear Walt is better in ever possible circumstance
>>
>>70306580

Asking people who gladly shovel shit like most seasonal anime into their mouths is worthless.
>>
>>70306489
At least it's a beautiful looking, boring shitfest. I haven't seen it in years so maybe it does suck I honestly don't remember
>>
Walt Disney is the fairy tale, Miyazaki is the fever dream.

I'd say Miyazaki's movies center around more adult concepts, whereas Walt Disney's are more directed at one's childlike imagination. Disney movies are all idealistic fantasies, whereas Miyazaki's work is more ambiguous.
>>
>>70306586
the french invented animation you dolt
>>
>>70306638
Thats like black people saying they invented rock and roll. The French might have invented stick figures but Walt perfected the animation the technique. Do you honestly have no idea what Walt did for the animation as a whole?
>>
Miyazaki is a director, Walt was a producer.

If you wanted to make a comparison between the studios, someone like Clyde Geronimi would be more appropriate than Walt.
>>
>>70306627
so why come here?
>>
As >>70306817 pointed out it is not the best comparison, also consider the different time periods they were active and how cinema changed between the mid-30s and late 70s. Disney is the more influential animator, but I wonder if that pendulum will swing back. More and more western animators are growing up with anime and revere Miyazaki, and I can only see his influence growing in the years to come (and after his passing ;-;)

>>70306580
/a/ is tsundere about miyazaki. If it is a straight up "miyazaki is a grumpy old man" thread people will shitpost but his films get a lot of love. There are often ghibli power-ranking/discussion threads. I actually prefer to discuss miyazaki and many anime films on /tv/ as there is a different set of standards here.
>>
>>70305850
Who are they?
>>
>weeaboos blindly defending their gook overlords

Walt Disney because he hated the kikes.
>>
>>70307457
/a/ has shit taste in anime. It's only flavor of the month, cutesy "moe" cute girls doing cute things bullshit. Anything decent is "entry level pleb garbage."
>>
>>70307457
Since Disney made Ghibli, so to speak, then those inspired by Ghibli simply continue the influence of Disney.
>>
>>70307560
Literally me on the right
>>
Doesn't matter much since Disney all but owns Ghibli in the west. Either way, I prefer Disney's stuff. They're a lot less esoteric, which I feel makes them more timeless.

Miyazaki
>>
>>70305850
Miyazaki, never enjoyed Disney movies except Toy Story, and they weren't made by Walt
>>
>>70308197
>Since Disney made Ghibli
no
>>
>>70305958
This. Disney even had to eat from the trash at some point.
>>
>>70305850

Satoshi Kon, Miyazaki and Disney can't even hold a torch to him. He's way outta their league.
>>
>Miyazaki directly tied to an art style that is extremely frowned upon for being derivative, terrible, perverted, socially inept, pathetic
>Walt Disney, literally the largest media corporation in history, spanning from the 30s and still creating classics to this day, also inspired the gook

Gee I fucking wonder. One is for angry pimple faced virgins who poison themselves socially with their hobby, leading to further escape into the hobby, detachment from society, anger at women, and pornography. The other is a staple of American Classic entertainment.
>>
Who's the guy who directed "the girl who leapt through time" and "summer wars?" Those are some top tier animu films right there. Didn't care for wolf children
>>
>>70308973
Hosoda
>>
>>70309034
Right right. Has anyone seen the boy and the beast yet? I think it's out next week. I couldn't find it online but then again I didn't really look

Walt Disney was the first to use voice over in cartoons and Magasaki just make weebshit more popular
>>
>>70309101
Yeah I saw it in theaters. The first half is very entertaining where the kid gets transported to animal world and gets trained as a martial arts apprentice by the beast. Very touching, well done karate kid kind of shtick. Second half is weaker and it goes completely off the rails at the end in a hilarious manner. Glad I had a friend with me to laugh at those parts.
>>
>>70308973

All of those movies are terrible.
>>
>>70309586
Why? I think they hit the summer aesthetic right on the head and they're both pretty damn comfy
>>
Fantasia is one of the most beautiful films ever made. Pinocchio is an absolutely perfect heartwarming action-adventure comedy with a better climax than 90% of modern movies. Dumbo is one of the best "pure entertainment" movies ever made. The Donald Duck shorts are laugh-out-loud hilarious and perfectly showcase 'animation acting'. Mickey Mouse shorts are a terrific foundation/starting point for short-form animation.

And this was all pre-World War II. Even if Disney died 25 years earlier he still would have been responsible for many of the very best pieces of animated content ever made.
>>
>>70305850
Miyazaki, though there are both western animation directors and japanese ones I like more. Yuasa is my pick for east, Jankovics for west.
>>
>>70305850
I dunno, did Miyazaki hate Jews as much as Walt?

If so, him. If not, Walt.
>>
>>70305850
>HAYAO MIYAZAKI
who?
>>
>>70309679

Shit writing all around.
>>
>>70308973
Wolf Children was his best though, some really top tier directing right there.
>>
>>70309959
More creative and less embarassing than most anime stuff out there in my opinion
>>
>>70309987
Maybe I need to watch it again it's been a while. I remember the end kind of bummed me out
>>
Whenever I read these kind of threads I am reminded of narrow and simple minded /tv/. Why is it so impossible to form a coherent opinion that doesn't resort to popularity, money, or audience types?
>>
>>70309109
>Walt Disney was the first to use voice over in cartoons
What?
>>
>>70310017
>More creative

The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is a practice in cliches with a completely misplaced subplot about a wasteland future that murks up the message of the movie. It's shit, man.
>>
>>70310767
Maybe. I don't know what to tell you, I think it's a pretty cute movie to watch during the summer because it fits the season. I'm not expecting expert story telling from an anime movie
>>
>>70305958
>Disney crashed the business into the ground

Uh, no. His company had its up and downs, but as a business man, Walt Disney was wildly successful.
>>
Walt is definitely much more important, but I think I prefer Miyazaki and his movies.
>>
>>70305850
Walt. I like Miyazaki but he is not only inferior to his friends like Oshii, Takahata and even his old pupile Anno but his work on the anime industry while good it lacks the impact people like Dezaki, Tezuka, Oshii and Yamazaki had in it.
Walt in the other hand did so much I couldn't cover all the things in my post. His influence is not only in animation but in the movie industry along with being part of the creation of a powerful business empire.
Only matched by his rival Fleischer
>>
>>70311925
>it lacks the impact people like Dezaki, Tezuka, Oshii and Yamazaki had in it.

Too bad about Kondo dying. Ghibli would likely still be up and running today. Miyazaki truly has no successor.
>>
>>70308197
>>70308401
He is half right. The influence of Ghilbi films comes from western animation andthe giant was Disney but also from eastern productions like the tale of the white serpent and european tales (for example the emblematic totoro is based on stories of trolls).
The guy who was a westaboo and full of Disney influence was tezuka.
>>
Kon. Only answer.
>>
>>70312987
True patrician choice there anon.
>>
>>70305850
Walt was pretty cool but Miyazaki made much better movies
>>
>>70306580
lol. /a/ just hates any anime that's popular. they're otaku so they watch every anime that comes out. obviously they will hate miyazaki just because
>>
>>70308906
funny given that disney copy anime now
