it literally can't be cancelled, it makes lots of money internationally and is basically made for a British audience, so the British broadcaster funds half the budget, meaning it's dirt cheap to make. Also this means it qualifies as both a British homegrown drama and an Australian homegrown drama, fulfilling both channels psb remits for a certain amount of drama a year. So if either channel axed it they would need to make another soap and the cost of starting from scratch is huge, plus building an audience for a new soap is unheard of in 2016-Neighbours will always have potential returning viewers.
