Did you ever watch the old show?
>>

I enjoyed it fine. It is almost exactly the same as the old show, all it needs is a news banter section another studio presenter to be added to fill in the dead air space when they switch presenters in the studio (Jordan or Sabine would be fine or why not both).

If the old show was 10/10 the new one was a solid 8/10 which is still a great show and will only get better as it finds its feet.
>>
>>70260880

wont happen with Evans. I guarantee he wanted to host the show himself until bbc execs stepped in pushing for something that would perk up interest

They should have given it a rest for a few years as it's not like the BBC needs the money. Chris Evans is a terrible choice to front the show. Though people forget the 2002 reboot took a while to find its feet.

In 2002 nobody was watching it and it was about to be cancelled, it had Angella Rippon as a presenter ffs. It took a while for people to actually start watching again in great numbers by which time (about 2006) the presenters and format had bedded in nicely.

Anyway, it's probably for the better that the real Top Gear lads moved on. The format was getting old. The last few seasons survived by the chemistry between the hosts alone.

Why? it will be shit, the bubble has burst and they're just trying to make a lot of money and get free holidays out of the pop.

It'll last 2 series at best with a massive budget cut for series 2. How many people will actually pay money to see it? It might bet a lot of people watching it to see what an ego driven shitfest it is but 99.99% of those will be people just pirating it on the internet. Also as their writers are still working on BBC top gear it will seem awkward and just descend into clarkson reading off offensive things from a pre-prepared list of cultures/countries/races that his team of researchers have assured him won't be able to retaliate with violence if they don't understand bantah.

Everything that they said was scripted though and the scriptwriters are clearly still working on old top gear.

The BBC also owns a lot of the format copywrite too, so in the new show you won't get anything the stig does, you won't get the cool wall etc. Worst of all you won't get the races either.

The new show is just them driving around Europe to their next destination and showing highlight videos of the staged hijinx they got up to on the way. It's a bit of a lame idea and will wear thin quickly.
>>
>>70262168
Yea this. It helps that theyre actually fucking friends in real life, new cast is a bunch of people plucked from different places and told to work, its not the same, especially when some of the people there dont want to work with eachother.
>>

Do you like cover bands? If I want to see the Rolling Stones I don't want to see some ginger guy with framed glasses doing his best impression of Mick Jagger shuffling over the stage smacking his lips.
>>
The true cringe I felt, was from the writing.

Its like they wrote the exact same show for Clarkson and Co but with a completely different cast of presenters.

Evans is suppose to be a new Clarkson but comes across too bubbly, not enough of that sarcastic defeating undertone that Clark had.

LeBlanc's introduction felt so hamfisted. Are we suppose to give a big shit he is American? Why give him a special intro, he should of been beside Evans at the opening.

I would pay to see Clarkson and team watch the first new episode in a Gogglebox format.
>>
>>70262926
How the fuck do you know?
The show isn't out yet.
>>
I felt the point the BBC missed is that it was a lads show. Sure you watched it because cars but also actually watched it for the dynamic between Clarkson, Hammond and May. The way they interacted was so naturally funny because they were actually mates instead of people trying to force chemistry.

Trying to copy the same format with new presenters will not work at all.
>>
>>70263211

It wasn't as bad as was expecting it to be, but Evans' damage control is embarrassing seeing as he was by far the worst thing in it.

BBC should have just reformatted it with new ideas and a new approach, try to find a new fanbase rather than rehashing and imitating the previous incarnation, which was never going to work.
>>
>>70263656
It was never going to work purely because of the BBCs agenda pushing.

The banter was always going to be toned down and suitable for the pc fascists.

There was always going to be a cast full of token coloured and females.

It was doomed the second the originals left because anything not previously established would have to submit to the agenda.

>What fucking agenda?

The BBC have quite literally promised that their workforce is going to meet various diversity quotas, both behind and in front of the camera.

For example, 15% of their employees are going to be disabled. It's unclear at this time whether or not that means they'll be firing a certain number of able-bodied staff or just forcibly disabling them.

It's also unclear how they're going to meet the quota they set themselves for non-heterosexuals since it's actually illegal to discriminate against a prospective employee based on their sexual orientation, and you can be sued for even asking somebody which team they bat for in a job interview

The new cast of Top Gear pushes the same agenda, in the same subtle way as all their other shows now do.

It's really as simple as tokenism for the sake of preaching the strengths of multiculturalism, all part of the gradual process of making the people of the UK eventually accept the concept of the EU an agree to an immigrant wave.

Remember, the BBC is literally a government-owned corporation, and the director is an unelected minister in all but name.

Their job is, and always has been, to ensure that the British public are at least softened up on all the talking points that the government is pushing at any given time.

Right now, as much as it seems like a Dr Strangelove-inspired fever dream, their agenda is to undermine the idea that Britishness is tied to being born in Britain and to do whatever they can to prevent a strong male role model from emerging into the public eye.

The last thing the government needs right now is a strong leader who stands up to the City and the EU and gathers the support of disgruntled young men and the working class, so the BBC gets to work on normalising bourgeois ideals across all available platforms.

"Remember, there is nothing that a straight, able-bodied British male can do that a lesbian, disabled Syrian female can't, except have a family, live without welfare payments and fight in a war to defend Britain but none of those things matter anyway because the EU is here to protect us, citizen. Vote NO to Brexit."

No matter whether or not Chris Evans and Joey from Friends insist that they aren't as gay as the obviously are, the point is not to eradicate heterosexuality anyway, it is to eradicate masculinity.

The concept of actually, physically fighting for the ideals you believe in must be erased from the minds of the British public, because if there's one thing that the government knows well it's that young males can be incited to violence if they aren't latte-sipping social studies graduates - that's why the Arab Spring and the Ukrainian civil war were such effective operations.

Top Gear was one of the most popular shows amongst the target demographic, so any viewers who might potentially return to check out the gutted, shambling husk of Clarkson's anti-PC flagship may as well be treated to a bit of metrosexuality therapy.

>>70264797

I'll assume that was meant for me since you quoted my post, and I'll just respond by providing this link:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statutory_corporation

>In the United Kingdom, a statutory corporation is a corporate body created by statute. It typically has no shareholders and its powers are defined by the Act of Parliament which creates it, and may be modified by later legislation. Such bodies were often created to provide public services, examples including British Railways, the National Coal Board and the Post Office Corporation. Other examples include the county councils, the National Assembly for Wales,[1] The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Channel Four Television Corporation and the Olympic Delivery Authority.[2] The phrase is not used to describe a company which operates as a conventional shareholder-owned company registered under the Companies Acts.

That is to say, much like BR and the Post Office, the BBC is a company that was created and is run by the government, is funded by the taxpayer, but is expected to return a profit like a regular business.

It is literally a government-owned corporation.
>>
>>70261693

It was really quite obvious. They were from Evans' local restaurant and represented a weight equivalent to the downforce applied by the wing on the Dodge Viper.

This was explained in the show, but you were seething at brown people on the screen and furiously smashing your keyboard you must have ignored it.

It's perfectly possible for gay men to have wives (in fact, quite a few wives over the course of a lifetime), and have kids.

It's also not relevant whether or not they are actually gay, as I already stated. The point is that they are as non-threatening as possible, as unmasculine as possible, as unlike Clarkson and his dangerously conservative ideals as possible.

The BBC cannot be associated with men who don't like vegetarians, like burning petrol for the fun, and punch anyone for any reason, let alone over a steak. It's [current year], for goodness' sake! The Twittersphere would never stand for it!

It's also pretty important that the the new hosts are cheap and desperate enough to accept a chalice as poisoned as Top Gear without the original trio, but that's by-the-by.

Well, obviously I have candid photos of them having intimate moments with their respective boyfriends and each other, and I have chosen not to release said photos because I'm currently blackmailing them both for huge amounts of money, which is why they were willing to host the new Tog Gear for such a pittance of a paycheque.

In the meantime, the facts that Evans has a voice like Jedward's long-lost triplet and that LeBlanc is an actor will have to suffice.
>>
>>70265843
So the BBC isn't government owned?
>>
>>70265812
It is. We produce some terrific drama like Wolf Hall, The Night Manager, Peaky Blinders. Great factual, history, science and nature programming like Wonders of the Solar System, Planet Earth, David Starkey/Simon Schama. Our sports coverage is great, hence why the world was begging for BBC streams from the last Olympics.

Granted we don't produce big budget stuff like Lost and GoT, but no UK channel can afford to take those sorts of risks.

This

>>70266635
They are a realistic representation of male, unwarranted arrogance is (Clarkson), for sure. But as the other guy said they're basically weak beta bitches

Surely if you're looking for a man's man to present Top Gear then Matt LeBlanc probably fills that role more. He looks like he works out, and I'm sure he's quite a bit tougher as a person than Clarkson and May (I don't mind Hammond so much but again you can't really say he's a macho man can you)
>>
>>70266727
I'm not saying they are "alpha males" but they are secure in their own skin, they banter, they say what they think, and they earn a living while doing what they like. I bet you think you'll be looking like Sylvester Stallone in your 60s, wearing a red UFC hat backwards or something. Have fun getting those plugs from your ass mounted to your forehead.
>>
>>70266717
What? Are you talking about Aborigines?

Might be local to Oz that. Every where I know, a petrolhead is someone with a keen interest in cars/vehicles.
>>

>>
>>70266802

This is why they should just hand the whole show over to Chris Harris who actually knows what he's doing with a car

Although then again he's not a mechanic. Okay so you could bring in Edd China for that. Problem solved.
>>
>>70266813
No they wouldn't. There was always mechanics on hand to do repairs.

He might as well could be gay. Gay guys work out too. He's a rich cunt from hollywood who probably got like 20 facelifts already. Being overly focused on appearance isn't the same as manliness.

They also got some northern comedian and talked to him about his car history to compensate for the shitty star in original concept do not steal segment of the main show.
>>
>>70267253
