Nah. Platinum Dunes only made a prequel that was set like 4 years before the 2003 remake. This new Leatherface film is supposed to be connected to the 1974 original unlike the PD series which was a reboot.
The poor guy was used and abused by his """family""". He was nothing to them but the butcher who brought the meat to the table. If you watch the dinner scene in the original 1974 you can see that the cannibal fucks berate and beat the hell out of that gentle giant.
