He is actually very handsome according to Doug (TGWG), in his Star wars VII review he says that when he takes his mask off it's revealed that he's actually a pretty handsome guy.
He looked kinda goofy in Inside Llewyn Davis, but he looks really good with longer hair.
It's good to have someone distinctive-looking amidst the average, generic crowd of "pretty" people.
