I read plenty of books, but I think in certain cases that video games do a better job at invoking emotions. For instance, what's more scary? Playing a video game in which you are presented with horrific sights and sounds and are in direct control of your character's fate, or a book which is merely describing it to you?
I'm not saying that it's always the case, because a lot of books do much better job, but for certain games it's completely understandable.

Yes, they're very well made games and a ton of fun.
Story is much more entertaining than Tomb Raider and the characters are more fleshed out but the gameplay is more linear but that's not a bad thing in this case.
