The previous Top Gear wasn't very good the first couple of seasons either. People have very short memories.
I don't know who Chris Evans is, or what he did before TG but based on this one episode I already don't like him, Matt on the other hand is alright.
Maybe Chris will improve, maybe the chemistry will improve, maybe the presenters will change, I don't know, but I wasn't expecting the first episode to be very good.

But it doesn't mean it isn't a car show. They could have gone and made a show purely about travelling couldn't they? Since they ended up travelling a lot. But they didn't. The show was always about cars. Up until the last episode, where they bought those three classic cars, then they bought the three SUVs.
Obviously the new show is called The Grand Tour which suggests they are continuing the element of travel, but firstly Amazon are still calling it a motoring show, and secondly we know that they are featuring badass cars in it, eg the segment they've filmed with the LaFerrari, Mclaren P1 and Porsche 918. It's going to have stupid stunts and it's going to have stupid jokes and it's going to have global travel, but it is still first and foremost going to be a car show
Gear heads, people that like cars, are usually conservative tough guys, they appreciated the older male banter between clarkson and the others.
The the bbc fired him and some British jew replaced them with the diversity team of unfunny leftists and joey from friends

It was terrible and forced.
They did not revamp the show at all.
They just kept the same format thinking that that it would work and just drop in a new host of presenters.
LeBlanc was okay, laid back with some obviously scripted jokes but he was fine, give him someone to have proper banter with and i think he could pull it off.
Woman appeared for 2 mins and made a US pilot throw up which was unexpected, made evens throw up but he makes half the country throw up.
Token arab and black man shifted onto online show.
Now onto evens, running around like a kid high on sugar shouting at everything constantly, he even rewrote the power lap leaderboard.
Celebrity section was boring and they even had the same chairs and table ffs and the track was meh.
The event with the robins was boring.
Its rating for the 1st show was 4.4mil on the night, that will include alot of people watching it to see how it is, next weeks figures will be more or less how it will be for the rest of the show.
It is going to get dropped it bet after one series.

I really don't understand how you can get this obsessed with three fat middle aged men. They were funny in parts, but if the show had just been those three performing sketches then I'm pretty sure nobody would watch it. They wanted to see caravans getting blown up, cars getting destroyed, races across a city, road trips, power laps in supercars. Even those more mainstream, less gearhead-y sections were still fundamentally about cars.
