Even funnier is Jungle Book was made for less, not a lot (75 million) but geez.

It was a better film, also was family friendly and colorful

When I went to BvS I heard a mom behind me saying "you see who's there?" whenever Bats or Supes appeared, meaning the kid wasn't giving a shit about the Lois Lane bullet shit

Um, having good writers?

I know is the cool thing to hate on Deadpool at the moment, but watch Deadpool and then watch BvS. The writing in Deadpool is miles ahead.

Just because you have well-established characters still means you have to write good dialogue.

DC thought it could coast on the historic weight of Batman and Superman, with C grade writing. It got beat by movies where the writing was sharper and more polished.

It is as simple as that.
>>
>>70173196
We are talking about the same audiences that give a billion dollars to Transformers and Minions with each installment.

Them going for better written capeshit over the familiar faces with more expensive action scenes is baffling

>>
>>70171603
Finding Dory feels like Alice 2, it's a sequel that nobody wanted and the trailers make it look like a rehash of the first movie's plot.

If Force Awakens can hit two billion then Rogue One can certainly do so too.

Believe it or not, because of inflation, movies are actually making about the same as they always have (if not less).

For example:
Jurassic Park 1 (1993): $357,067,947 = $591,227,917.42 (2016)
Jurassic World (1993): $393,934,261.38 = $652,270,625.00 (2016)

oh please, don't you remember when DC fags lose their mind when they thought BvS "broke" box office records on the first week? we all do the same with our favourite movie, anon

Sums up their comicbook output for the last decade as well. There's a reason that they went from being neck-n-neck with Marvel for comic sales year in and year out to being down to almost half of their sales.

NB4: b-but STAR WARS! If SW had that much effect Dark Horse would have been in second place the last 20 years rather than DC.

What you're seeing is the start of Peak Capeshit, phamlia. People by and large still love the idea of People With Powers but the time when you could expect to get people excited just by having that as the subject matter is now well past (see Heroes Reborn's resounding flop). You have to actually tell a story and entertain people.

So a movie like Deadpool (an R rated movie made for 58M about a character that's literally a parody of another character from another company: DC's Deathstroke) that's fun and well paced blows the doors off of Bats vs Supes (made for 250M!!?!)! Because: we've all seen multiple movies/tv shows/cartoons with both of them apart and together and if we hear the movie sucks, whelp, pass (or wait till netflix/dvd/torrent) and catch the NEXT capeshit that comes out a few weeks later.

I don't know why this is hard to grasp for people given that Batman's basically been a license to print money for longer than anyone posting here has been alive but that didn't stop Joel Schumacher from dick-punching the franchise and derailing the capeshit train from over a decade.
>>
>>70173724
They got civil war, zootopia, finding dory, and rogue one which will likely clear a billion each.

Disney will be fine
