You don't stop being a pleb by watching specific films. You stop being a pleb when you begin to intellectually engage the films you watch and formulate readings of them. This doesn't mean you're not susceptible to relapsing back to pleb mentality, though. Since the responsibility of applying your intellect in an effort to be intelligent rests on you, you cannot dismiss any film from this process on the grounds that someone else thought it was beneath analysis. No one else can think for you. You have to respect everything from experiemental foreign film to Hollywood blockbusters.

Solaris is a bit of a mess, tbqh. It's like an anti-positivist 2001, with some of the cringiest dialogue on personal identity I've ever seen. The cinematography isn't all that good either, the shots amongst nature are solid but the design of the space station itself is an absolute mess, all the sections seem architecturally disjointed from each other.

Hey op, my recommendation for Tarkovsky is to watch them in chronological order. This means starting with Ivans Childhood and ending with The Sacrifice. He only made seven films, so this isn't hard to do, and it allows you to watch him evolve as a director. It really is the best way to watch his movies
