Both are great shows, don't listen to anyone who says otherwise. It depends on what you're in the mood for, X-Files takes itself more seriously while Buffy is more tongue-in-cheek.

You should have asked /tv/ what to watch. There were daily X Files threads and the general consensus was to rewatch the Darin Morgan episodes, because the new Darin Morgan episode was most likely going to be the only good one, which it was. Without having watched those episodes you would have missed much of the humor, eater eggs, and throwbacks that made that episode so amazing.
