do you even know what board you're redirecting to or do you just do that bc other people do it
>>70107948
Holy shit. You just opened up a world for me, senpai. Got any more recommendations?
>>70108052
I fucking love Dennis.
Guy has been prodigious as fuck in terms of productivity. All of his movies are pretty damn good so far and looks like he has like 2 more coming up in the next few years, one of which is Blade Runner.
One of the most based directors living today.
Story was convoluted, plot was muddled, characters were weak, dialogue was garbage, but holy shit is this movie beautiful to look at
Obligatory
>>70108138
also uhhhhh
>>70108256
everything about that movie was fucking garbage
why are modern-day sf movies so goddamn clean and shiny? why do ships in the future suddenly never get dirty or scratched?
>>70108340
is it just me, or is it fucking depressing that googling "True grit screencaps" brings up the shitty modern reboot?
and also a cumshot for whatever reason

>>70107573
>Thief
yep. one of the best looking movies i've ever seen.
i'd add drive to that list tho
>>70108386
The human ship in Prometheus is supposed to be Weyland Corp's and as befits an expensive important expedition with important executives on board, is clean and shiny. The Nostromo in Alien is an industrial mining ship and is consequently grubby and dingy to reflect that.
Riddick, Guardians of the Galaxy, Star Wars 7 had some grimy-type set design.I can't really think of any recent future hard-ish scifi movies where the setting is industrial or slummy. The Enterprise in the new JJ Trek movies is kinda obnoxiously shiny though, i'll agree with you there.

>>70109648
all I can say is you must not like movies very much then? or you haven't taken acid very many times
>>70109648
take a dose and watch Fellowship of the Ring. It's about as far from boring as you can get.
>>70109582
Almost everything is great on acid, anon. Though personally, I'm too energized when I do it to sit down for a film
>>70109793
i totally understand that. i'm the opposite tho, it makes me want to just sit somewhere and enjoy the hell out of something that's awesome visually and tickles my brain

Well keep in mind the ballet sequence only makes up a fraction of the film, the rest is a drama, albeit brilliantly written and acted.

how do you find templates like these for movies? or are they all made by people on 4chan?
>>70111530
low key lighting and triangle composition are my personal favorites
>>70107304
Depends, enter the void could be the best eye candy movie along with OGF and Tokio drifter. But in terms of camera movement and expression, Sergio Leone is my boy.

I can't believe Ayoade is wasting his time as a reality show host when he shoots movies like this
>>70111530
same as any visual medium: balance in colour and composition, or intentional imbalance to draw attention or evoke a certain reaction. I think aesthetics are more of an intuitive thing and are hard to explain to someone who doesn't understand.
>>70112104
i know a lot of people dislike this but i like conspicuously geometrical and unrealistic compositions, find it very evocative
>>70112171
this for instance
more people should watch the Golden Age of Italian horror
>>70112171
>>70112214
This is why film exists, to be honest
>>70112383
that's a bit of an overstatement
>>70112306
Do you think that Deep Red is Argento's tightest movie? I think that structure-wise it's his strongest giallo, but I also think it might look as good if not better than Suspiria. Suspiria is certainly memorable for using a shitload of colour but there are way more shots in Deep Red which stick in my head after seeing it.
And it's definitely his creepiest and most fascinating story, better than anything in his 'animal' trilogy, which I love, but they all feel like they're building up to Deep Red where he got it right.
Also
>golden age of italian horror
>post-Bava
>implying implications
Also Fulci is underrated, Catriona MacColl is perfect and was tragically underutilized in film.

>>70108024
>mfw plebs try to argue that the tree of life is prevalent throughout the series just because it looks cool
>even though it has strong ties to the story and development in the two Shinji institute taking episodes
I know it's a meme to say this, but EVA really is fucking deep, and so many peopl really DON'T get it because they're not familiar with deeper and varied occultism.
>>70112555
Forgot my face because I'm tired
watched this recently, anyone else seen it?
>>70112477
I'd say I like Deep Red better, if only because it's really baffling that a dumb ballerina is able to destory entire witches coven through basically sheer luck.
i could never forget Bava, he's my jam
>>70112555
>institute taking
instrumentality*
>>70112555
>tree of life
>deeper and varied occultism
Tree of life and other jewshit is entry level symbolism
Anno himself admits it was just to make it look good, which eoe certainly did
Bava, eternally underexposed, undervalued - although apparently they played Planet of the Vampires at Cannes this year so that's cool
>before Alien, there was space Italians
>>70112555
Nice trips, watch Tokyo Decadence followed by Love & Pop. Anno's live-action meme-movies are arguably more powerful than his most over the top animated stuff. Like Eva Love & Pop gave me the impression that Anno was trying to speak directly to his audience but there's a candidness to Love & Pop that really struck me a lot harder than EoE.
The whole movie's shot in this weird, intimate, handheld camera style that puts you uncomfortably close to the action in a really unique way. I think that I might have actually liked it and found it more engrossing than EoE.
And I feel the need to emphasize that Tokyo Decadence is also a great movie. It looks really nice and takes you to some unique places.
Blomkamp's District 9/Elysium/Chappy all share the same scratched dusty plastic aesthetic, love it.
anyone familiar with this gem? i thought it was damn good, reminded me of Event Horizon except with better visual design
>>70113207
desu I can't wait for his Aliens movie, I know it has a big chance of being terrible but what if it's not?
>>70113301
Same, but it's on hold isn't it? Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant comes first.
>>70113360
unfortunately, yes
now that, I'm confident will be terrible.
>>70112741
this movie is a bit silly but amazing to look at
>>70113639
The camera moves in this movie are out of this world
>>70113617
I like at the end she suggests the entire inciting incident was because she got stoned
>>70111518
I can't imagine what it was like being able to experience this in theaters.
>>70114515
It plays in repitory theaters all the time
>>70114515
I've seen it in theaters twice in the past two years. If you're near a big city, look out for it at the "arthouse" theaters.

> I hesitated massively. It took me a lot of time to say yes. Not because I didn’t believe in it, because I was like ‘Who am I to dare to touch that?’ And at the same there’s a part of me that said, ‘I’m a hardcore fan, I don’t want to fuck that up.
