Stranger than fiction.

i was so depressed after this film i had trouble getting out of bed for a week
An Autumn Afternoon. It's not depressing, it just has a very melancholy ending.
>>70094449
Beautiful ending to this one.
That song
That scenery
That feel

had a somewhat similar experience.
The Road
>>70094763
maybe the book, i dont feel like the movie really showed how vulnerable the boy was and the whole father/son living for each other thing that well
when i watched osmosis jones as a 5 year old, that ending really got to me
the fact that my dad was fighting cancer at the time and i'd sometimes only get to see him in hospital didn't help
>>70094359
Man this movie made me cry like a baby
>>70094818
>i dont feel like the movie really showed how vulnerable the boy was
that's because you're supposed to fill in that part yourself, and you have no empathy
get out more
I sat speechless for 5 minutes in my seat after it ended. This is one of those movies that is just something else.
>>70094948

Definitely Midnight Cowboy.
I work at a 24/7 Divebar in a Gambling City so I see people daily who remind me a lot of Ratso Rizzo and Joe Buck. Seeing these people make these same mistakes time and time again is very depressing.

Before Sunrise, Before Sunset
Made me long for a similar relationship and experience, and the song at the end of Sunset made me tear up
First example that came to my mind
>>70094818
The movie perfectly showed how vulnerable the boy was and how brutal and animalistic the world became. The ending was a little sappy but anything else would have gone against studio standards.
>>70094359
this one really fucked me up
>watching 13Hours last night

This
Pitch perfect film imo but I'm not sure I can ever watch it again
Speaking personally, pic related. I burst into tears once it ended because I have a crippling fear of being a failure at life.
Some others would be I Saw the Devil, Melancholia, and Threads.
I normally can't stand Spike Lee movies, but seriously, this is a labor of love and a masterpiece. I start crying near the end when Malcolm's driving to the Audubon Ballroom where he knows he will be assassinated and Sam Cooke is playing in the background, and it carries on through the credits. The story of a good man who admitted and overcame his own faults in order to help other people, only to be harassed, stalked, and murdered by sleazy Jews and greedy niggers with ego problems. He taught black people to be self-reliant, and was betrayed by those who can't stop asking for handouts. This would be a MUCH different country had he lived through and influenced even more people than he did. Our country and millennial generation are a mockery to what he gave his life for. I break down watching this movie because in the end, he gave his life for nothing.
It's not really an emotional sadness - it's just so fucking bleak
>>70100673
That's why it's called "tragedy", such an otherwise overused term nowadays.
Also there's a soviet (?) movie about an old man walking through trash and rubble
for some reason I remember it as a sad experience
does anyone know which movie could it be?
>>70094096
First post got it right. I watched it with my gf expecting a shitty Will Ferrel comedy and ended up sobbing like the bitch that I am.

Departures (2008)
A lot of war movies, something about brotherhood under fire gets to me.
A little obvious but Eternal Sunshine hit on some stuff I was feeling at the time.
