does /tv/ like giallo films?
>>70090247
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEE THIS ISN'T MARVEL
>>70090247
yes
stendahl syndrome is underrated (and incidentally, the last good movie argento did)
>>70090247
No, I prefer Ironman
Not enough memes.
Not really. I hate going through the first hour of shitty written drama and awful performances.
>>70090707
I feel the same about any horror subgenre based around murdering the cast halfway through.
>>70090247
I love Giallo
Suspiria > Everything else
>>70091096
Suspiria isn't giallo
>>70091144
But is kino.
>>70091096
Blood and Black Lace > Everything else.
>>70090699
Profondo Rosso is the comfiest giallo
bigger fan of bava
Argento or Bava? Who's the real king of Giallos? Or is itHitchcock?
no
>>70090707
yea, the never ending inscrutable real estate quiproquo and quadruple crossings... can't drum up the interest to follow any of it. so i can'T say i'm a big fan but it can be interesting to watch one once in a while, or try to.
>>70091265
Bava by a country mile
I love Argento, but even his best can't compare to the likes of Black Sunday, Kill Baby Kill or Lisa and the Devil.
>>70091265
What a stupid question, they're not even contemporaries.
>>70091484
How so? Bava worked until the late 70's and Argento got into the industry during the 60's
>>70091571
How can there be a question over who the king is when one studied under the other?
>>70090664
The concept of that film alone is frightening. Solid 90s Argento he's got atleast 6 or 7 I'd rank above it. Also why does Dario love getting his daughter naked in every film? I mean she's hot but it's creepy.
But no OP /TV/ probably hasn't seen anything other than a few Argento and maybe Fulci films.
While on the topic of Dario how awesome is Bird With the Crystal Plumage?
>>70091265
argento made better movies, bava made better giallo.
>>70090664
Sleepless came out a few years later I'd call that his last good one, some great set pieces.
>>70091737
I think you have that backwards
If people don't recognize Bava as the emperor of italian horror, they haven't seen the light yet.
Argento and Gialo are like the hands of said emperor- also impactful but not at the same level as Bava
Jess Franco is my nigga
>>70092115
trash
>>70092173
kike
>>70090247
I like Edwige Fenech's body of work.
>>70091711
How the fuck did Argento go full retard after the 90's?
The Strange Vice of Mrs. Wardh and Blue Eyes of the Broken Doll are my favorites
>>70090707
>euro film is too slow
Millenial americuck with ADHD spotted
Can someone recommend some Italian horror that's not Bava or Argento?
>>70092496
old age, dementia. most directors lose their skills when they enter their twilight years. very few have the guts to quite while they're ahead...
>>70091265
let's not forget Lucio Fulci shall we
>>70092622
Check out these directors:
Antonio Margheriti
Riccardo Freda
Sergio Martino
Lucio Fulci
Mario Caiano
>>70092486
me too
>>70090247
Some, but be honest. Most Italian horror movies are absolute fucking dogshit. So much trash from Italy.
>>70093066
Most movies in general are dogshit, Italian films are no different
>>70093139
Naw, Italy produced lots of terrible dogshit that rode off other popular films and practically ripped them off. Italians don't really have good imagination. Even fistful of dollars is basically a Kurosawa movie.
/tv/ is dead
>>70092896
That's really not very helpful anon
>>70093221
>Italians don't really have good imagination
>mfw
>dismissing Once Upon a Time in the West / America and Duck You Sucker because Leone's Dollars trilogy copies a few scenes from Yojimbo
>not realizing Kurosawa himself ripped off a bunch of 40s noir films for Yojimbo
>Fellini
>Antonioni
>De Sica
>Bertolucci
>Rossellini
>Monicelli
>Risi
>Pasolini
>in a thread mentioning Bava, Argento, and Fulci
>directors like Guadagnino and Sorrentino bringing it back
>>70093271
If you're truly interested you have to do some of the work yourself anon

>>70091076
I liked that movie.
I paid way too much for a crappy vhs rip I found on eBay, but it was worth it.
>>70095187
It's on blu-ray now from Arrow Video, and the transfer is great
>>70095256
That's great news, how's the dubbing?
wewww laddies
>>70092622
The Fifth Cord, giallo
Starring Franco Nero
Music by Ennio Morricone
Cinematography Vittorio Storaro
Footprints on the Moon (Le Orme) (1975) from same director & DP
>>70095447
Not enough has been written on the influence of giallo on David Lynch.
>>70095324
I've only watched the Italian version with subs and the audio was good for an original mono track
