no
>>
its meant to be funny. the movie is a comedy
>>
>>70063826
I don't think so, I think it foreshadows the fact that they're about to get into some mess? Idk
>>
I swear we're getting Funny Games posts every day now, but I'm cool with it, I enjoy discussions on films other than BvS
>>
>>70063719
Contrast happy family with crazy music for laffs
>>
>>70063750
nope. you're just an idiot.
>>
>>70064143
explain it to me then, you genius?
I don't see the relevance of shit loud music in an intro like this.
>>
>>70064163
The movie is trolling the audience. That's what the movie does

>>70063895
how can you look at this and tell me that it isn't a comedy
>>
Because it's jarring to both the classical music it cuts into and the intro that appeared to be being set up. You know something bad is going to happen but this is the first twenty-thirty minutes of 'that movie where something bad happens eventually', so you're sure nothing bad will happen yet, and then something bad does happen and it throws you off. You're meant to be uncomfortable and confused, so I guess you had the appropriate response.
>>
>>70064236
because it's spooky
>>
>>70064232
I love how you didn't explain it at all...
>>
>>70064280
Thank you, I guess that make a little more sense. But why would you describe it as "something bad" happening suddenly? I don't think it's necessarily "bad"... just random as hell.

Now u r troll me
>>
>>70064372
...and?
>>
>>70064370
Bad atavistic-wise
You think you know what's going to happen, which means you feel safe, which means you feel good, but then something entirely irregular happens, you feel unsafe and unsure, which means you feel bad, hence a bad thing happened.
This happens 4/5 times, undermining audience expectation is if not the gist of the movie then the movie's medium for delivering the gist of the movie.
>>
>>70064399
I will admit that gave me a good chuckle, but yeah, I am one of those guys that believes there's a purpose to everything in films. Especially in films like these.
>>
>>70064475
And fucking hang yourself you idiotic pleb who literally needs an in-depth explanation of a movie that presents itself at absolute face value throughout. Maybe next time sit down and think for yourself about what you've just seen, draw your own conclusions.
>>
>>70064481
Damn, you're a smart guy. What are the other 4 times? I know one of them is the scene with the TV remote... but that's about it.
>>
>>70064372
what's wrong with the US version you fucking moron? It's the superior version BY FAR.
>>
>>70064399
Not the guy you're talking to but I can answer it.
It's one of those movies about movies or stories to say it more broadly. It's about a storyteller bringing to life these characters only to have them be battered and bruised up for the amusement of an audience. When the villains look at the camera its almost like "okay, this is what you're waiting for! get ready!!"
You laugh at the lack of comfort that you are vicariously responsible for these people getting brutalized for your amusement.
And then at the end of the movie it basically tells you that.
>>
>>70064577
4/5 times was a ballpark number, think of the rules of horror movies from Scream or Scream 2 or whatever it was.
The hero dies honourably in a brave sacrifice, the heroine goes from timid but kind to tough bitch and saves herself and the kid, the bad guys get kicked in the balls and good triumphs over evil.
Every time the audience is led down a path to one of these conclusions it is completely flipped, probably most notably, and most pointedly in the European version, with the young child getting killed not only first but first by being blasted in the fucking face with a shotgun.

You two are too smart for me to comprehend, thank you both so much! I appreciate this film even more now - despite the fact that the intro gives me a headache...

The saints of /tv/ - too smart for this damn board
>>
>>70063719
it pushes the usual trope audiences enjoy so far that it becomes disturbing. the entire movie does this.

thats the whole point of the movie.. its a commentary on movie violence
>>
>>70065284
Thanks for contributing buddy! I'm starting to love this film.
>>
We need more discussions on Michael Haneke movies. Who agrees?
>>
>>70065728
/thread on Caché
and yeah I agree.
>>
>>70064577
the set up with the ending where the bad guy proclaims he cant swim and a knife is shown to be in the boat tricks you into thinking she can escape.

She doesn't.
>>
>>70066099
Yup, that's true! Thanks for contributing man, at what point was it said that he can't swim though?

Pleb.
>>
>>70066168
Never said I didn't like it (I don't like it). The point I was making is that it felt random and out of place.
>>
Daily reminder Funny Games is a film about time travel

>>

WHAT?!
>>

>>
>>70066165
His brother mentions it in the living room
>>
>>70063719
it kills the seriousness of the film, which preps you for the time control scene and the unhappy ending. i love the film btw, my favorite "horror" film
>>
>>70066689
Thank you, was that near the beginning?
>>
>>70066550
>>70066637
There's literally a scene where they travel back in time
>>
>>70066714
I love this film too - it really is quite the masterpiece.

But he uses the remote to go rewind the scene, it's time travel within the internal universe of the movie
>>
>>70067342
Oh... I guess that makes sense

youve never seen funny games? watch that shit homie. its patrician stuff.
