But Prince of Egypt is better

The soundtrack to this movie still pumps me up.

It was a beautiful rendition of the story and was absolutely rammed with celebrities in voice roles, from Val Kilmer as Moses all the way to Steve Martin/ Martin Short as the temple priests singing "You're playing the the big boys now".

For an animated feature that wasn't backed by Disney It was very ahead of its time.

DreamWorks was pretty into Wallace and Gromit's production though, you can hear in the audio documentary that they would come in and ask to add jokes all over the place, in fact, Katzenberg was the one that came with with that awful gag in the climax of the film with the Bulldog reaching into his lady purse and putting a quarter in the toy airplane, I still wonder how the scene would play out if it didn't have that

That's something Prince of Egypt did right when Ten Commandments left a little bit confusing.

Moses turns his staff into a serpent, then comes two Priests and their staffs also become serpents, it's not an illusion or anything, they literally become snakes.

However, the whole ''God hardened Pharaoh's heart'' thing in the movie is much more reasonable than what it would normally seen in the Bible, Moses rejects Nefertiri and she says she can harden Ramses if she wants, Moses grabs her head like a walnut and stares into her soul and says:

>Yes, you may be the lovely dusk through which God will work his purpose

And then walks off. Is there a film protagonist more alpha than Charlton Heston as Moses? I swear, that film is like a guide on how to behave like an alpha

You don't mean to start shit? Come on, it's the OP and it gets more attention, but only a pleb would think that something as banal as POE is the greatest animated film. There's no need to worry, and of course what you posted is a way worthier film.

>watching it without the series leaves you completely lost
probably because it's literally the final two episodes of the series from a different point of view compressed into a movie?

In what way is it "mediocre", as autistic as it sounds, EoE is probably one of the only movies I can think of that you either have a negative reaction to or a positive one.
>>
>>70085703
It's far from mediocre and only a complete retard would watch it without the series.

>in order to watch this hour and an half greatest animation ever you have to watch the 26 episode anime in 4:3 that aired two decades ago
Yeah man, fuck your anime shit. Japanese animation will never be on par with the West.

>Composer Hans Zimmer has announced that he is through scoring superhero movies.

>Zimmer, who most recently worked on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, made his retirement from the genre known during an episode of BBC HARDtalk.
>"I did Batman Begins with Chris [Nolan] 12 years ago, so The Dark Knight Trilogy might be three movies to you, to me it was 11 years of my life," he said. "[Batman v Superman] was very hard for me to do, to try to find new language."

The semitic peoples that would become a component of the proto-Hebraic cultural identity almost certainly fucked around in Egypt for awhile, going from a position of wealthy elites to a working class within a handful of generations.
>>
>>70085176
It's still a great movie.
>>
>>70086014
Oh, sure, you won, whatever it is you think you won.
A bigger victory though, is the one of the series and the film, which won't have another retard watching them.

It's a fact, you fucking retard.
Animation will never be respected in America because Hollywood retards see it as a genre instead of a tool. Ironically, Disney Studios is to blame.
Walt is probably rolling in his cryogenic chamber because he was deadset on trying to get people to respect animation as a medium.

Animation in America is seen specifically for kids, and when it's not it's super edgy and aimed at slightly older kids.

>then comes two Priests and their staffs also become serpents, it's not an illusion or anything, they literally become snakes.
they hit their staffs against each other and conjured a flash, then they were holding snakes when you could see shit again

it was blatantly stage magic(emphasized at the end where one of thr priests go "they love it" to the other like a typical performer)

you must not have watched it recently or you have very poor comprehension

It's not even the best animated film that came out in 1998.

How to Train Your Dragon is easily the best thing DreamWorks has ever done, as well as the best animated film of the decade. This is objective fact.

HTTYD is top 5 Dreamworks, but not the best. And about being the best in this decade, well, it's not being a great decade for animation. I don't remember anything fantastic, outstanding: Ghibli's best is Kaguya, there's Inside Out and Toy Story 3 from Pixar, L'Illusionniste, Rango and Anomalisa. Probably the weakest animated decade since the 80's
