Has this destroyed the action-blockbuster genre? It seems like any movie that doesn't try to mimic its formula is battered into the ground by a mob of angry critics

We will be saved by alien covenant, the predator, and maybe ID4 2 (it looks generic af, but more appealing than any capeshit made this year by marvel or DC)
>>
>>70057654
Yep. Marvel and their owners at Disney are single-handedly destroying cinema.
>>
>>70057733
All of these are going to get under 50% RT and you know it, regardless of the actual quality of the film
>>
Are you all being serious?
Look at the average quality of blockbusters pre-MCU.
Most of it is shit. I used to leave the cinema feeling cheated.
Ads would frequently try to make the film look like something it wasn't, which is strange because that meant they had some idea what audiences wanted, but still didn't deliver.

The average quality of MCU films is much higher than most blockbusters.
More than that they're actually planning how it fits in with the wider universe.
Years ago you would routinely see major points from the first film ignored in the second.

It's all getting a bit bloated after eight years but overall it's had a good impact on blockbusters.

because it turned the movie going experience into an episodic tv show, people come back to watch the same thing over and over again

Not really. Despite whatever fat neckbeards on /tv/ who are obsessed with contrarianism and nostalgia, MCU movies are not worse or better quality-wise than average action blockbuster from 80's or 90's.

>Independence Day
>Men in Black
Would be called alienshit on /tv/ if the last decade was dominated by movies about aliens

>Original Ghostbusters
>Gremlins
Would be called monstershit if it was rleased today and the last decade was dominated by movies about fighting monsters

Haven't seen Civil War but X-Men Apocalypse was shit and BvS was pretentious as fuck.

Yes anon, the reason your favorite comic book or videogame movie sucks is all Marvel's fault. Keep telling yourself that if it helps you sleep at night.

>still being mad at based kevin

>Actual Marvel comics fan
>Successfully maneuvers around stubborn Marvel execs to let him try MCU
>Idea seemed bananas crazy at a time because Marvel was nearly bankrupt and most popular characters were splitted between other studios
>Takes the risk and produces Iron Man
>Proceeds with creating $10 bln franchise from nothing
>Revolutionized the concept of movie franchise
>Runs things so efficiently that there were little to no scandals or production misfires for the project this large, namely all top stars are willing to continue filming
>No movie or script leaks like retards at Fox or Sony regularly do
>Of 13 movies he oversaw 13 are financially successful with 13 of those having positive critic reception
>Slowly returns Marvel characters to their home from other studios
>Excellent relations with Disney board as well as lots of Hollywood people
>Cucks Paramount
>Cucks Universal
>Picks up the fight with uncooperative CEO when the time comes
>Wins the fight and becomes co-CEO himself
>Cucks Sony into Spider-Man deal
>Humiliates WB/DC at capebowl of 2016
>MCU steamroller is going as strong as ever
>Starts war with co-CEO over Marvel TV
>Starts it just at the moment when Civil War is breaking its billion while TV ratings are declining - a move that will undoubtedly make him look good and co-CEO bad
>Looks like he is going to win this too
>This is the man who made Iron Man and Captain America larger cultural icons than Batman and Superman
>This is the man who produced a comic book movie about Rocket Racoon, a movie that was more profitable and critically successful than a movie featuring Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman
>>

That picture is retarded and so are you I bet.
>>
>>70059163

Pretty much. MCU flicks pretty much follow the old-school action-adventure style. That's why they work.
>>
>>70058697
Just look at Marvels roster compared to DCs and Fox's, Marvel pushes out like 5 flicks a year that fuck the box office. Before that it was one or maybe two superheroes movies a year but now Disney has made the general public lean towards theirs and less towards decent cinema.

Blockbusters have always existed, and the masses have always been stupid.
Do I need to remind you the 30 years of westernshit we had, where maybe only 1% of western movies are slightly memorable?

Actually Feige being in charge of TV would prevent shit like AoS or Agent Carter from being made. He would also mitigate most of Jessica Jones problems.
