NOPE, when a fight is sanctioned by the state boxing commission, if someone gets hurt the other party cant be held liable. however it was supposed to just be an exhibition match so that might make it more complicated, also he is from a different country so that makes it even harder..

What makes it more unrealistic and horrible is the reaction to killing him. When something traumatic like that happens shit will stick with you for a long time. It was a terrible scene in a bad movie that's fun to watch.

No. Fault would have been placed on the ref for not stopping the fight and Apollo's trainers for not throwing in the towel.
At worse, Apollo's family would have tried to sue Drago in civil court but even then they wouldn't have much of a case considering how prideful and stubborn Apollo was.
