I think it will get good reviews, but it will be very very difficult for it to be a mainstream box office success in the USA.
Just doesn't have the name recognition of most blockbuster adaptations.

Money and statistics in China are dodgy as fuck. Government interference and dodgy middle men everywhere.
Who knows if the stats are real, who knows how much money the filmmakers will get back. The Chinese government could even take the film out of cinemas after a few days without explanation because they want people to watch another movie.
