Essential westerncore?
Downloading The Good The Bad and The Ugly, Pale Rider, and A Fistful of Dollars.
Wondering what else I should watch.
For a Few Dollars More is pure cowboy Kino.
>>69931425
Two Mules For Sister Sara.
High Noon and Rio Bravo.
The first of which was an allegory for the McCarty era and second Red Scare, and the latter of which is a redpilled pro-American anti-communist response.
High Noon
once upon a time in the west
high plains drifter
unforgiven
the outlaw josey wales
shane
Once Upon A Time in the West
The Wild Bunch
The Magnificent Seven
The Searchers
McCabe & Mrs. Miller
>>69931630
This
>>69931425
TOMBSTONE
Watch all of Leone's westerns:
A Fistful Of Dollars, For A Few Dollars More, The Good, The Bad And The Ugly, Once Upon A Time In The West and Duck, You Sucker. After that, watch Once Upon A Time In America.
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
Irish terrorists blowing the shit out of mexicans? fuck yes
Stagecoach
Dead Man
The Great Silence
>>69931630
Once Upon A Time and McCabe are brilliant.
Bone Tomahawk is the best western of recent years, perhaps of this century.
Once Upon a Time in the West is the most operatic western film I've seen, it's exceptional. Must see.
>>69931800
OP here, should mention the only westerns I've really seen are 3:10 to Yuma, Bone Tomahawk, and The Quick and the Dead.
But have recently gained interest in them.
Young guns
Bone tomahawk
Everything.
Western is the GOAT genre. There's not a single bad western film. You can't prove me wrong.
>>69931711
God damn son, that shit will put some hair on your chest.
Also, Wild Bunch, Once upon a time in the West
So lads
The Good The Bad and The Ugly or Once Upon A Time in the West ?
High Plains Drifter
Also, recommend me more great supernatural westerns /tv/. High Plains Drifter is the only one I've seen
>>69931998
Django Unchained
The Hateful Eight
theres youre proof.
>>69931998
You haven't seen Texas Rangers with those faggots from Dawson's Creek and The Practice.
>>69932070
Yes, but also High Noon and the Searchers. Save OUATITW for last though.
>>69931800
>>69931912
>western hills have eyes
kek
This movie is based
>>69932070
The Good the Bad and the Ugly
But it's close. So fucking close. Ask me again tomorrow and I might change my mind.
>>69932152
>Directed by Quentin Tarantino
>bad
Pick one.
>>69932157
Not as bad as people say it is.
>>69932070
GBU is slightly better for a faster pace and a stronger trinity of characters but both are golden
>>69932070
TGTBTU: GOAT ending
OUATITW: GOAT opening
Jane got a Gun and Forsaken were pretty good
>>69931682
Once Upon A Time in America is must must must watch
>>69932204
Despite it's billing there are long stretches of pure man-on-horseback kino, cowboy bantz, and pistol-slinging. It's undeniably a western, and not just because it has Kurt Russel in a saddle.
>>69932568
But it's not western.
>>69931425
>western
>spaghetti western
Two of these are not like the other.
>Who's the fellow owns this shithole?
>>69931682
My Name is Nobody?
>>69931671
Absolutely this
Also I'm quite partial to Hang 'Em High
Unrelated, but every time I try to post without connecting to wifi it says posting from my area is banned. What is this shit?
>>69932070
Why not both?
>>69932765
No. Comedy westerns were cancer.
>>69931425
just watch the dollars trilogy in order
Fistful is the worst but still very good. But Yojimbo (Fistful's source material) is on the level with Few More and GBU.
Few More is actually about equal with Good Bad Ugly. Especially because you get some Kinski in there.
Not as bad as I thought it would be
>>69932684
Still worth recommending
>>69932725
I dont deserve this
Where would the Leone films be without Ennio Morricone
Once Upon A Time In The West
Bad Day At Black Rock
The Furies
Forty Guns
The Wild Bunch (Peckinpah's the GOAT imo)
Colizzi's Trilogy (Especially Ace High)
Lust For Gold
The Tin Star
High Noon
High Plains Drifter
The Outlaw Josey Wales
Bend of the River
The Naked Spur
And anything John Ford did...
Unforgiven, not posted once?
Unforgiven if it's not been already mentioned
Also I really like Open Range, largely for having an actually (mostly, Costner still fans like 16 rounds out of an SAA at one point, and the shotgun sends guys flying) believable gunfight
>>69931552
If you like McCarthy allegories and great one-takes, watch Silver Lode. Great movie.
>>69933036
read the thread
Neo-westerns ahoy.
>>69933036
Nm, saw it
>>69931552
>>69931555
>>69932195
High Noon sucks imo, and it has nothing with its allegorical concept. Is there anything I should be looking out for next time I watch it? Can't remember anything exceptional about it.
Along with everything you guys mentioned, I'm gonna recommend Kurosawa even though they're technically jidaigeki. Very similar spirit and tone, and they're all fantastic. Call me a faggot if you want, though
Seven Samurai
Yojimbo
Sanjuro
Toshiro Mifune gets into some wily shit in these films
>>69933698
obviously Mifune / Kurosawa collabs belong here
Mifune is GOAT and Eastwood is his best protege
>>69931425
Little Big Man is great and doesn't get a lot of love. One of my favorite movies.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fm5S1xcDP4
>>69933698
>Yojimbo
great taste lad
>>69933698
you forgot Sword of Doom . You faggot . Great rec's doe
>>69931630
Second This
Curveball recommendation
This Australian 'Western' called The Proposition
>>69931682
THIS
The Good, the Bad and the Weird
How the West Was Won
actually deserved its Oscar for Best Picture, imagine that
My uncle got to see that opening night as a kid, in San Francisco (the movie shows contemporary San Francisco and then goes back in time and shows decade by decade how San Francisco came to be), with the full wrap-around cinerama experience. He said it was as great as it sounds to us.
Movie ends with my bittersweet tears of joy.
>>69931425
Hang 'em high is the best and most underrated western of all time.
>>69934528
That was a good movie.
Also give Red Hill a chance as another aussie western
>>69935026
>The law still wants 'em
>>69935227
now i want to watch it again
>>69931425
COMPANEROS. (1970)
DJANGO (1966)
ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST (1968)
All of theses = Pure glory and soo much fun.
Rio Bravo and McCabe & Mrs. Miller. not only two of the greatest westerns, but two of the best American films of all time.
Fort Apache, it so ridiculously good especially the ending. Fonda and Wayne are just a good duo
>>69933698
>tfw this will never be a movie
>>69936213
Here's a larger version for you, homie.
>>69936213
something about that era, when west and east meet, really really like that shit
too bad there isn't much out there
>>69936339
Oh, you are my brother. This is going straight into the walls folder.
>>69934987
>actually deserved its Oscar for Best Picture
Hate to break it to you, but it didn't win Best Picture. "Tom Jones" was the winner that year.
Million ways to die in the West is essential
>>69931998
>The Ridiculous 6
>A Million Ways to Die in the Westinb4 not true westerns
If you liked A Fistful of Dollars, you might want to check out Last Man Standing with Bruce Willis. It's literally the same story, but with prohibition-era mobsters.
sabata and sartana movies
>no mention of The Big Country yet
plebs the bunch of ye
>>69936854
Kek
The big gundown is an excellent/underappreciated spaghetti western.
You should also check out those samurai flicks mentioned above
>>69932765
is that Bud Spencer and Terence Hill western?
>>69932070
GBU
>>69932968
It's insane that he first won an Oscar this year.
>>69938091
Euro westerns were looked upon as cheap knockoffs and scoffed at by the critics back when they were a thing.
>>69931425
i'm really old and have seen many movies
most in this genre
this is the best
or don't
This
>>69932665
It's undeniably garbage bro. None of the actors look like they even want to be there, and I doubt any shot was done more than once considering how poorly delivered some of the shit is.
>>69931425
Deadwood
>>69934872
>The Good, the Bad and the Weird
I'd second your odd taste, anon. I love that movie. Not my favorite western by a long shot, but fun as hell.
True Grit (2010)
>>69937755
The whole movie is about people realizing they really should not fuck with Lee Van Cleef and it's great.
Love the final duel with the German
>>69938853
It is not God-Tier, but it is still essential western kino.
>>69938864
Also this, a remake that surpasses the original by a long shot.
>>69931425
Once Upon a Time in the West man.
>>69931552
This guy has good taste.
>>69936959
The Wild Bunch
The Good, The Bad
True Grit
>>69938925
>Also this, a remake that surpasses the original by a long shot.
only for the modern audience
new =/= good
>>69931800
True Grit 2010 and Bone Tomahawk are absolutely top tier, True Grit is a bit better though and better than the original. I saw the original first.
get the whole trilogy u spaghettio
>>69932152
>Both directed by Autismo Tarantula
Yeah ok you dumb bitch.
>>69931425
>missing for a few dollars more
It gets overlooked but it's my favorite
>>69931618
High plains drifter.
Rape in first 10 minutes.
Kek
Why are Jews so great at playing Mexicans?
>>69939404
For a Few Dollars More is the best one.
this list if far from exhaustive but has plenty of good lesser known films
sorry for the quality..but just look at it
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RsXx0lov8qo
>>69939436
Probably because they're still shit.
Honestly I'd rather live in Mexico than have to associate with a single kike.
>>69931618
>the outlaw josey wales
This is the best Western ever made. You might want to hold off watching this until you've seen all the others, as everything else will suffer horribly from the comparison to it.
>>69931552
Hign Noon is a commie flick and no one should watch it outiside libfag campuses.
>>69939404
Dat pocket watch theme
>>69931425
Silverado
5 Card Stud
The Professionals
>>69932070
Once Upon a Time in the West was better

>>69931425
The Good the bad and the weird obviously
>>69939692
those are also the best revolvers ever made looks wise
>>69939957
Walker Colt?
The Remington 1858 is sexier IMO
>>69931986
Essential westerncore for 15 year old autists
>>69940121
I just have a soft spot for those percussion revolvers
>>69931552
third post best post
>>69940121
>>69940206
forgot pic
>>69940206
Same. My only revolver is a 586, I plan on getting a black powder gun at some point for shits. Maybe a Starr or a Lemat
>>69931425
>>69931998
This, just watch them all bro.
But IMO, I would only stick with the Italian/Spaghetti ones because of the GOAT scores and stories. The Great Silence is my favourite.
>>69940307
I do like some LeMats I saw on forgotten weapons. very cool pistols
>>69937777
Terrence Hill.
For a Few Dollars More has the best showdown out of the trilogy. Actually, out of the whole genre.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0JPnR7C8mZQ
Miles better than GBU duel.
>>69939518
Please don't turn /tv/ into /mu/, they're objectively the worst board on 4chan, why would you try to do this?
>>69940507
/tv/ is much worse.
>>69940401
Forgotten Weapons is confirmed for the most based YT channel
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Slow West was alright
>>69932300
>Directed by Quentin Tarantino
>bad
>Pick one.
The last good Tarantino film was Kill Bill 1, Tarantino's only skill is the rapid characterisation of a large cast, he's terrible at anything else other than repeating the word nigger over and over.
>>69931425
Disregard every american made western except for Peckinpah's.
Watch any spaghetti western.
The Treasure of Sierra Madre, a variation of Chaucer's The Pardoner's Tale.
>>69940487
>>69941321
>>69941410
things contrarians, tryhards and plebs say
>watching Unforgiven with dad and brother
>been watching uninterrupted until the last act
>shit is getting intense towards the end
>action starts
>mfw my Nan walks in asking about food
>all of us quickly and politely tell her to get the fuck out
2 HRS OF BUILD UP
>>69931748
Excellent call. Tarantino fags need to check this one out.
Absolutely stellar ending
>>69935026A lot of people think it's a spaghetti western. It was done by Leonard Freeman Productions who did the first Hawaii Five-O. The guy who was Dano was the preacher at the hanging.
>>69939436
He played a Mafioso too.
>>69941321
