Because she can beat a years-trained Sith apprentice in lightsaber combat, aim a blaster better than most trained Rebellion infantrymen, pilots the Millennium Falcon better than Han Fucking Solo, and on top of all that, is really, really pretty.
All this while being some Tatooine dreg not even out of her teens. And she's a huge fangirl of the original cast to boot; that really brings out the Mary Sue fanfiction flair. Now all that's missing is her romancing Luke.

Luke had to be trained for months, even years by Yoda before he could beat Darth Vader, and that was just by the skin of his teeth. But here comes in Rey, having never touched a lightsaber in her life, beating this Sith who's been training for years. Imagine a California valley girl in high school beating a US Marine in hand-to-hand combat, without getting so much as a smudge on her makeup. That's what this is like. How does this not tear your willing suspension of disbelief to billions of subatomic ribbons?

She's from the original work she can not be a Mary Sue.
Mary Sue refers to a character added to an existing property usually in fan fiction who is poorly written and better than the main cast at just about everything.
The original Mary Sue character was this young cadet from star fleet who could out logic spock, out medicine bones, and was immune to kirks charms, ect. She also made all the right decisions never did anything wrong and died at the end sacrificing herself for the ship.
Ray fits the classical definition of a Mary Sue pretty well, especially that scene where she magically bypasses the hyperdrive out haning han.

SW VII is one giant Canon Sue cash-in, and Ray is supposed to be a surrogate for preteen/teen girls. It might as well be a Mary Sue fanfic. It has about as much respect for the source material and talent in the writing department.

The blaster shots' power can be regulated. Chewie wasn't shooting for the kill, otherwise Kylo would outright burn and be sent flying.
And if he wasn't burnt or flying, then the feelings of pain and anger he experienced after getting wounded should have amplified his Dark Side conduit immediately. It's Sith Fighting Style 101.

We have an even more whiny Anakin as an antagonist and an atrocious Mary Sue as a protagonist. With a plot that's ripped off the original beat-for-beat and a writing staff that seems intent on raping all those classic characters that we liked while still making ham-fisted copies of them. Wow, what a wonderful trilogy this'll be!
