>disliking a series just because it went mainstream
How many people have to be watching to be considered "mainstream"?

One Punch Man levels
It's less about popularity and more the kinds of crowds something gets popular with.
In the grand scheme of television programs, Dr. Who is a nobody. In terms of toxic fanbase that makes you despise the series though? None worse.
Like Star Wars. I enjoy the films and whatnot at a casual level, but holy shit Star War nerds are the worst.

I don't mind the nerds but there is too much damn star wars merch in the world and I just don't care for the people who actually buy it all.

Where is the fanbase though?
Do you purposely hang out with them, or seek them out on the internet?
Is it possible to just ignore them completely?

Two

nothing is worse than My Little Pony fans, nothing

Well if we're talking about GoT right now, no I can't.
>>69893966
lol wut
All TV is mainstream
>>69894914
No, at least MLP isn't supported by mainstream media. Star Wars is, and that's why it's obnoxious, you can't escape it because "everyone" loves it.

As soon as your normie coworkers mention it.

>Is it possible to just ignore them completely?
Of course fucking not. I'll give you an example: The Red Wedding.
That was THE most talked about event in recent television history. They completely botched the lead up to it and now the mass Game of Thrones populus expects that shit. So what happened? They fucking gave it to them. Now GoT is full of meaningless "slaughter moments" and strong women.
When something gets popular, the artistic direction shifts to formulaic profits.
