He's proven he's a pretty good director, he appreciates and likes the source material, and he's motivated to prove the DCEU can have a good Batman movie after Snyder screwed up BvS.

Look, I'm a DC fan; I grew up with the cartoons, and as much as I've liked most of the MCU, I've always wanted to see DC movies live up to that same standard because I like the characters more.
BvS was ambitious, strove for mature themes and cultural relevance, but overall just didn't meet those goals. It wasn't 28% bad, to be certain, but "Snyder's capekino" is just a meme by fans who wish it was better than it was.
To be clear, I *want* to see DC capekino. I want to see the kind of quality Marvel has in their movies in a DC movie, because I want to see the more interesting stories DC can offer. Affleck might be able to deliver that.
