I still think there is a big difference between kids born in the 80s and thise born mid to late 90s and 00s. I think both the bokm of the internet and whole post 9-11 new world order made kids who didn't grow up before that very different.
Of course, I admit maybe some kids were mature enough to understand some of that at a younger age.

It's Gen X's fault. The Boomers are old folks who want their social security, and millenials happen to be the ones around to pay the tab. But it's Gen X that raised millenials with the 'self-esteem movement' and just general overly permissive parenting. It's even worse with the ones raised by single moms, which a lot of them are, since a lack of fatherly influence is comorbid with this crippling child-rearing philosophy to a terrible extent.
That said, millenials are responsible for themselves now. Gen X fucked it up, and they couldn't fix it if they wanted to. But the millenials won't fix themselves, and indeed, don't even see that there is a problem with them.
1991 baby here and I can testify that there are pretty significant difference between people my age and people my younger sibling's age (1997). I feel like the transition took place sometime in the mid 90s. They had access to cellphones/internet way earlier in mental development and I think it had a (negative) impact.
