Make Apocalypse more powerful and make him actually do stuff instead of talking the whole movie then getting BTFO. Make him look bigger and not so gay. Make him actually grow in the movie, not just in Xavier's mind.
Write it so Apocalypse's awakening was a direct result of time travel from the previous movie and make it obvious.
Kill Xavier off in the second act and have that be the catalyst for Magneto leading the X-Men against Apocalypse.

I think its was Singer giving up a bit and trying to please comic book fans and MCU...it didnt work.
On the bright side, I enjoyed the comedy. Its not so in your face like the Quips at Marvel. Its a more subtle type of comedy.
Am I the only one who likes how Apocalypse looks, I prefer Oscar Isaac and practical effects more than a generic big CGI guy/Thanos recolor.
Also the final battle was hype, reminded me the defeat of Cell in DBZ.
