I honestly can't understand the appeal of most REALLY old movies. I fully get ones that were made after 1975 or so, but before that I'm totally perplexed. They're dull as fuck, generally
>>
>>69768182
You gotta maintain the patrician image by watching boring movies, bro

Please, watch Vertigo (1958) then come back with your renewed opinion.

when Metropolis was better than most 70's movies is when you realize that it's not old movies that are bad, but just most movies.

I am not saying that there's a magical year where movies started getting better, but movies really really got better by the time
I'm gonna watch Vertigo though

Apparently the guy stopped watching everything after he turned 13. He doesnt even watch tv shows.

His favorite movies are The Matrix, Titanic, and Crouching Tiger Hidden meshuggah.

I love a lot of albums from the late 1960s. Movies are different from music though. Movies rely heavily on technical aspects which get better over time unlike music. Music can be deliberately recorded in lo-fi these days

I watch movies because of their stories and older movies were more focused on that and were good at it. There are notable exception where visuals are important, like Kubrick movies, and they still have a deeper meaning and they tell a better story than modern crap like capeshit.

Retards like OP belong to the ADD generation where they can't understand this type of things and they end up looking like idiots.

OP is right all old films are just rubbish. It doesn't matter if the photography was good. It doesn't matter if the acting was good. It doesn't matter if the story is good. Old films are just shit for being old. I myself only watch movies that are less that 5 years old, and only in 3D. And just like Op Alone. Naked. Gay.

Because they're "influential" or some shit. Some people just can';t accept that what was good then is outdated now and a lot of the stuff has been revisited and done better in modern times. I except someone to point to hollywood blockbusters(or capeshit specifically) in a pathetic attempt to make a point.

The first twenty years or so of film are really interesting. They primarily use stage techniques, but you can see glimmers of what movies will become, and can almost see the evolution happen in real time.

I love silent movies. The physicality of the actors is so much more pronounced, and you really see how much someone can say with just their eyes.

Shallow self-absorbed millenials are easy to spot. You just cannot appreciate anything that's not set in your time frame.

I appreciate movies older than I am all the time. That's because I am not ethno-centric and arrogant.

I think it's interesting how most of them don't seem to mind getting filmed or are not even aware of it, all they know are "normal" cameras that only takes one picture

>Why even watch movies that were made before you born

I honestly think there is a lot of truth to this. I think for most people, around the time you were born is the cutoff for movies. Anything before that looks SO dated, feels dated, you don't understand many of the references, etc etc. There are exceptions to this of course, I was born after star wars came out and i still watched it constantly as a kid, but that was only about 10 years difference.

I know there are a lot of you on this board that really enjoy older movies, and i have seen a few i really liked too. I'm just saying for most people, movies made before you were born are hard to related to. It's like jerking off to playboy magazines or something, they were great but we do have online porn now, and it's hard to go back. Maybe that's a bad analogy but you guys get what i mean
