How well known in this god-tier show outside the UK? I remember there were a few shit sketches, but most of it was absolute gold

it's largely unknown because it basically couldn't be aired anywhere outside pay cable, the humor is very oriented to the UK, and the well-known rights issues with the soundtrack.
which is a shame because it really is amazing. "edgy" humor that doesn't feel try-hard and has actual wit, social commentary that doesn't feel smarmy like south park or whatever, and a strong atmosphere. it's strangely tender and bittersweet.

Agree, but I get the feeling that because it was so unique back then and practically unknown it gets kudos from the few people here who have seen it. If it was more popular and made today it would be seen as "3edgy5me"
