Haven't seen this yet (wasn't even aware it was out until just now), but the trailer gave me bad impressions.

I was honestly disheartened by the trailer because I liked Days of Future Past so much. Is this movie actually any good? Is it worth seeing just for Magneto and Quicksilver? Or should I just stick to my initial assessment and not bother going to see it?

Apocalpyse traditionally has total control of his own molecular structure, and is able to alter his body size, shape and density at will. This ability functions fast enough where it's caught Quicksilver off guard in the comics.
Haven't seen the movie yet but I'm assuming that's how Apocalypse became a giant.
