It's bad. The auteur direction, and acting anchored 1. The writing, admittedly hurried, is all over the place in 2, the multiple directors make it feel unremarkable. The acting's good but they deserved better. It's...deeply flawed, pretty bad, with moments of near brilliance

i don't think it was rushed by normal standards. he had months on end to write the screenplays. he also once boasted that he wrote two pilots for HBO in a week. yeah, i think the whole it was rushed argument is people fishing for reasons as to why the second season's narrative was so ineffectively written. having read Galveston, i'd say season 2 was more in line with his narrative style and season 1 extraordinary. mind you, most of the interesting bits from season 1 were cribbed from other writers. however, if he were to pair up with a decent collaborator, i wouldn't count out a stellar third season.
Threadly reminder that the people that say S2 is/was even remotely worth a watch are trolls and should be hidden, reported, and ignored.

I didn't hate season 2 but it definitely wasn't as solid as the 1st.
The only thing that I really didn't enjoy was the attempt in the 4th episode to rival the first seasons big action set piece.
Just felt like an unnecessary inclusion and instead of a fairly effective and exciting one shot we got a poorly directed, shoehorned gun fight with Breaking Bad tier angry mexicans shooting up entire streets.
