This was around 2011/2012 by the way. Our theater was kind of dumpy so they kept the old tech for quite a while. The only reason they even switched to digital was because they received help from the film companies. Turns out producing actual film and then shipping around the canisters is very expensive, so it was worth it for the film companies to help theaters out with the costs of new projectors.

First we're interviewed by the staff and have our IDs checked, then they check our luggage, then we go through metal detectors, then once we've all sat down they give us a safety speech (keep your arms and legs inside your row at all times etc.) that goes on for five minutes, then you're too nervous to focus on the movie because the staff are patrolling around with assault rifles and night vision goggles and dogs and only need an excuse you to drag you down to the detention center in the basement.

Pretty much. My park water play area job could certainly be classified as shit. The pay was meh, I would be there entirely alone so if I had to really go to the bathroom I'd have to call and wait for someone to relieve me which could often take up to 10 minutes and I frequently dealt with bad as fuck kids, weird people, rude people, and neglectful parents. In the PNW we have weed-vaping shit-heads in theaters. Fucking losers hitting their vapes every 15 minutes and blowing their foul weed-smoke into the audience. Theater staff have done NOTHING about it in spite of complaints. I've basically stopped going to see movies in the theaters now.
If you want to see common courtesy and the social contract break down, go to Costco or a movie theater. People give zero fucks anymore.
