Was there ever a more terrifying scene in a children's movie?

Yeah, this scared the shit out of me and also just left me confused. I couldn't figure out why the kids turned into donkeys. It wasn't until I watched the movie again when I was a lot older that I figured out they were "making asses of themselves" literally. But even more scary than that scene was the slave driver whipping them.
>>
its from a kinda obscure movie tho

Anybody else think the Coachman would prostitute those donkey boys to those horny lonely salt miners they would ship them to? They don't call it Pleasure Island for nothing.

The clown fucking ruins this scene. He completely overshadows the idea that the nightmare is ultimately about the toaster accidentally killing a kid.

Air conditioner scene from brave little toaster.

>What is representationalism?

One of the most common features of nightmares is the externalizing of fears. This usually means taking an abstract fear and representing it as some sort of easily-defined, easily recognized entity.

I never thought I would find someone too pleb to appreciate The Brave Little Toaster, but I guess I succeeded.

What the fuck is the context for this?

Little Nemo scared me so much as a kid but I would still watch it anytime I got the chance. One of the movies from my childhood that I still watch every once in a while.

More so it was the references to outright death more than that. Those were far more numerous.

With the characters being man-made household objects rather than any sort of biological lifeforms, the writers felt it appropriate to be able to take liberties with how "death" was treated, with it being much more common and casual for the characters.

It actually caused some controversy among parents at the time of its release for that reason. They felt it was too dark and too focused on outright death for the target audience.
>>
>>69718273
It is a kids movie through and through, just because it also has appeal to adults doesn't mean the target demographic wasn't kids.

How can one movie be so cheesy and so fucking scary at the same time?
>>
>>69719040
It's called Help I'm a Fish!

I watched it with my sister when we was young, I think the story is about a bunch of kids getting turned into fishes. They find a potion to bring them back but another evil fish wants to be human too.

It's pretty fucked up.

>>69721444

When will this meme die?

>wrote watership down based on stories he told his own children
>book is awarded the Carnegie Medal, which is exclusively awarded to children's literature
>won the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize

>>
>>69722057
yeah. lids these days don't seem to understand that in previous times children were not treated with kid gloves. or if they were, those kid gloves were [robably made out of other children. the shit that i watched when i was growing up, that was considered fine and normal would be completely out of place now. it was acceptable to scare the fuck out of young children, to make them cry, show them violence, all of that. it was just a different time.
>>
>>69718273
Kid's weren't pussies in the 80s.
