Redundant as fuck. This is literally dumb storytelling and adds nothing new to the table.

Godzilla 2014 had some good monster scenes but their were just so few of them. Gareth Edwards obviously knows how to make a scene with giant monsters and people at the same time but he needs to learn how to balance that better with the scenes that are just showing the human characters.

I like how they anthropomorphize Godzilla even if all he was doing was keeping his what was his. Like, something purely animalistic, and they think he saved them.

Which kind of plays into all those movies from the 70's where Godzilla was basically as superhero. Not even an anti-hero, he was just the go-to hero for when monsters attacked.

I appreciate the reply, but the demonstration of strength, especially man vs environment, is a cornerstone of epic stories. I don't think the scene was intended as a personal affront to your DYEL lifestyle.

I mentioned the other 3 films because I would bet a million bucks you will defend something like TMNT but attack every Marvel release, which is strange given that Marvel puts a lot of love in their projects, and I don't see any of that with the 3 I joked about.
>>
>>69717655
>They serve different purposes.

Sure, but that doesn't change the fact that one scene says: "look how strong cap is".

While the other scene shows how the world or at least a part of it thinks about supes.

>>69717621
Because it's redundant. If your character's whole motive is saving Bucky, him trying to save Bucky adds literally nothing.

>He stops the helicopter because he's trying to save Bucky.
No shit sherlock.

>He fights Iron Man because he's trying to save Bucky.
No shit sherlock.

>He's chasing Black Panther because he's trying to save Bucky.

Lighten up a bit, maybe? Marvel has a track record and I just don't see a lot of passion behind TMNT or the Ghostbusters reboot. I thought so too but it fell to the same trap as Monster where he really didn't know what to do with the characters in the 2nd act. They just kinda meandered around. I will say, up until Cranston's death, it was 10/10. Slowed down a lot when it just focused on the apparent charisma black hole that is Aaron Taylor-Johnson. This is total conjecture, but it seems like Gareth might not be the best director of actors. That's why Cranston and some other bit part actors were able to excel, while the less experienced ones seemed a bit awkward or bored in their delivery.

imo the point of his character was to provide the audience a direct view of the sheer size and power of the monsters. In order for them to have an impact the size difference has to be stressed and displayed, hence all the scenes of AT-J sneaking around and barely avoiding getting crushed, while not really doing a whole lot himself. It's the best way to really capture the feeling of being in the shadow of these huge beasts.

I'm a sizefag though, so I find a self-insert protagonist in that situation to be very familiar and relatable.

I meant this.

If that was pavement instead of water. Cap would have killed Bucky.

It's literally plot convenience and lazy writing just for some cheap drama.
>>
>>69721056
Well, to be fair, Bucky never expected for it to come to that. Nobody told him about Cap's super-secret mass-increasing powers. Or his ability to maintain tension while reversing his grip.
>>
>>69721130
she's a dumb capeshitter, you're fine anon.
>>
>>69721130
I would leave anyone I was with for Chris Evans and I'm not even gay.

Don't stand in the way of your gf's dreams, anon.
>>
>>69721056
Bucky is the one that decided to crash it faggot
>>
>>69721144
Cap didn't know that Bucky would try and kill him by crashing the heli though. He was just trying to stop Bucky from running away.

>>69716066

If you really loved her, you would contact Chris and offer her to him next time he is in town.
>>
>>69721144
water pretty much is pavement when you hit it at a certain speed. Water is dense as fuck m8
>>
>>69721203
Cap made him crash that heli because he wouldn't let go. It's stupid.

Pavement would have killed Bucky for sure. The heli would be a pancake.

/fit/ pls
>>
>>69721270

>>
>>69721239
It's not that water is particularly dense, it's that it can't be compressed very well, so it HAS to move out of the way. If you don't give it time to move it will fuck you up.
>>
>>69721144
>If that was pavement
But it wasn't
>>
>>69721502
EXACTLY

It's a deus ex machina just for fucking cheap tension and drama. They did the same fucking thing in Iron Man 3.
>>
>>69721540
>plot convenience
>Deus Ex Machina
>When talking of some water

Using words you don't quite understand doesn't make you smart
>>
>>69721540
They also did it in WS.
>>
>>69721540
The real plot convenience in that scene is Steve being able to stop the chopper from lifting off in the first place, unanchored, no less.
>>
>>69721593
They are used correctly. It's convenient to the plot that there is water in that exact spot.

It's as much as a Deus Ex Machina as the eagles in LoTR.

They are literally saved by something that's out of their control and written specifically by the writers to save them out of that particularly deadly situation.

Projecting your lack of understanding these concepts only reflects on you. Dumb ass.
>>
>>69721667
No, the REAL plot convenience was that the railing Steve was holding onto didn't peel away as he tried to hold down the chopper.

It looked pretty flimsy and he was holding it near the end.

the one you posted was an egg for ages till it got irradiated and then hatched after being collected by humans

so either that things adopted (cuz a chick godzillasaur layed it in rodan's nest) or godzilla was a slut and had no idea were he put it in when he was a dinosaur
>>
>>69721834
It is. It's like Gandalf showed up and made a nice pond to break the fall of the chopper.

You know what would be great? Bucky actually dying there and Cap feeling guilty and questioning his actions. That would have meant something.

Now all we got was a cop-out just to showcase his biceps.

BRAVO MARVEL
>>
>>69721725
Let's not undersell the convenience of Bucky letting off the throttle just long enough for Steve to reverse his grip.

A few people audibly groaned at that in my theatre.

It is the most boring because it's the most predictable.

Something that isn't as predictable is more interesting.

That's why people liked the new spiderman and black panther the most. Because that's what people haven't seen yet.
