The Thing literally has the best cover art of all time.
Alien's fx are a little dated now. Xeno body suit looks goofy as fuck but the set design is still 10/10 though. Both movies are amazing achievements in scifi and horror.

I watched both when I was like 9 or 10 years old and Alien scared the shit out of me. The Thing on the other hand didn't spook me at all. It didn't have that thrilling nerve-racking atmosphere like Alien.

It's a remnant from an incomplete scene cut from the movie where they try to catch the alien and Ripley almost got decompressed in the airlock. Later it was retconned as a stress reaction like in Alien 3.

Great timing! I watched Alien, Aliens, The Thing and The Thing (2011) the past few weekends.
I'd say Alien is a far better movie than The Thing, but The Thing is my favourite to watch. It's more real, more relatable.
The Thing (2011) was actually a much better watch the 2nd time over. I hated it on it's release but once you get over the fact they canned the most groundbreaking animatronics for hamfisted CG it's pretty good! Shame the continuity was off. Where was 'slit-wrists' in the Swede's camp in the prequel?
