really enjoy the books

mostly enjoy the show. This season and the previous season are inconsistent as fuck but when it's good it's still pretty damn good, and even when it's bad it's usually bad in an entertaining trashy way

yet through all this the books pissed me off more than the show, and watching the show takes less time and effort to get invested in this above-average series than reading 4,000 pages of repetition and field shitting and 3,000 pages of strong content, characters, lore, relationships, scheming, etc that make this worth caring about at all

I greatly enjoyed the first few seasons, but now Benioff and Weiss seemed to have decided their audience is completely retarded. Like they think that people only watch this show because "PEOPLE DIE! IT'S SHOCKING! WHO'S GOING TO DIE NEXT???" and it's fucking annoying.

How many people in this season alone have just been suddenly betrayed and killed while nobody else bats an eyelash? Ramsay is particularly bad.

Loved the books. 4 was a drag, though I think if I reread it now I may be able to pick up the more subtle things/appreciate it more.

Show? Season 1 was incredible (you could read every ~80 were consistently an episode of the show). Great accuracy to the books, everything looked nice.

I think the actor's playing Davos, Tyrion, Stannis, Ned, and Bobby Baratheon, and Joffrey have given the best performances so far.

Dislike: small things that would likely only trigger a bookfag. Stuff like the Ironborn doing nothing forever. Gendry paddling around Dragonstone for years. Brienne killing Stannis, Brienne fighting The Hound, Stannis getting an offscreen death, Theon being back home with Asha, Ramsay killing his dad and no one caring, no Manderly giving Davos and us a rush about whose side he was fighting for, Mance dying, Olly's entire character, no Lady Stoneheart, no (possible) Aegon, Jorah getting greyscale. I can probably think of more but that's off the top of my head.

I started reading after season 2, so for me everything after season 2 was just steady downhill, season 5 triggering me the most. But luckily something clicked, and they're different enough at this point for me to say "Okay, they're basically different stories."

Only the last two seasons have gone off the wall with the fanfiction stuff, but they omitted so many details before that it lost the complexity that made it interesting in the first place
