ITT: terrible casting decisions that ALMOST HAPPENED
pic related, Matthew Broderick and John Cusack almost got the role of White Walter in Breaking Bad. Holy fuck.
>>69614688
If you've seen Election, you'd know Broderick could have pulled it off.
Robin Williams almost got the role of Jack Torrence in Kubrik's Shining. Damn.
that would have been awesome
>>69614922
Actually, I think he could have pulled it off.
>>69614849
Just wanted to post the exact same thing, i feel like Broderick would've been a worse Heisenberg, but a better Walter. He definitely would've been less threatening, but BB writers wrote to actor's strengths and his Heisenbderg would've worked too, he'd just be different.
Harry Lloyd lost out to Kit for the role of Jon Snow
>>69614688
>no source
I believe you, OP.
In The Office I guess originally John Krasinski was supposed to be Dwight, and Rain Wilson was supposed to be Jim. That would've been fucking weird.
Well Matthew is bad at breaking just ask the micks
>>69614688
I think I could see Cusack doing a fairly good job.
>>69616939
but we got that
>>69614688
DUDE WEED LMAO as Dwight in The Office

Search engines, newfriend.
>>69617049
>Odenkirk as Michael
reboot with that when?
>>69614688
>>69614688
Cusack might be alright. I agree with you about Broderick though. He just doesn't have a whole lot of range.
>>69617146
We kinda got that in season 9. I don't remember specifics, but Pam was looking for a new job or some shit, and she came across an office that had Odenkirk basically playing Michael Scott.
>>69617205
shit, don't remember that, never re-watched seasons 8 and 9
>>69617238
It's probably best to avoid them unless you care enough to at least watch them once. I know I couldn't get through season 9. I ended up skipping to the finale after half the season.
>>69616839
>Harry Lloyd lost out to Kit for the role of Jon Snow
Height doesn't always matter, I guess
>>69614688
To be fair, if they had made WW a divorced, failing author with a god complex, Cusack could've played him pretty well.
>>69617373
Ooops!
I remember reading somewhere that William Campbell was in the running for William Riker but lost out to Frakes,
the biggest near miss after the cuban missile crisis was stuart townsend almost being cast as aragorn
>>69616971
hehe
>>69616839
Great actor
>>69617121
Thanks for confirming your post is bullshit.
>>69617430
i agree
Are there any other good creepy Cusack roles besides The Paperboy? He was great in that.
>>69617515
Well there was the one where he played a person with multiple-personality disorder.
>>69617205

This was actually pretty depressing. Odenkirk is great but Pam's interjections and self-awareness showcase everything that went wrong with the show after the first few seasons. Sad.
>>69614688
I'm OK with either of those casting decisions.
For some reason I imagine that in some alternate universe, you've got Bryan Cranston on the left/right and are certain that he would have been a bad option. I mean, he was Hal in Malcolm in the Middle, the goofiest of goofs.
I heard Meth Damon auditioned for the part of Finn in Star Wars VII. Now that might have been goofy.
>>69617846
They're really alike
>>69617878
>>69617846
He would have been great
>>69617515
Did you see Grosse Pointe Blank? I can't remember how creepy he was in it but he did play a professional killer.
James Brolin screen tested for the role in the next film Octopussy

>watching american office
>Smith says he turned down the role because he didn't understand the movie:
>You know, The Matrix is a difficult concept to pitch. In the pitch, I just didn't see it. I watched Keanu's performance - and very rarely do I say this - but I would have messed it up. I would have absolutely messed up The Matrix. At that point I wasn't smart enough as an actor to let the movie be. Whereas Keanu was smart enough to just let it be. Let the movie and the director tell the story, and don't try and perform every moment.
>>69614688
if cranston didn't get the opportunity to play walter white and one of these guys did you'd be saying the same thing - "why did they ever consider that dorky tv dad for the role?"
>>69618900
This, and I'd be defending Cranston by saying "he was brilliant in The X-Files directed by Vince Gilligan"
>>69617049
Kathryn Hahn is hot as fuck
>>69617049
The literal walking meme from 30 Rock was going for the part of Dwight?????
>>69618804
He's right

Will Smith makes a conscious effort to not play black people like that. I don't think he's ever said nigga on screen
>>69616707
Me too. Williams was a great actor, so I don't see why he'd be terrible for the role. I think the other anon misunderstood what the thread was about.
>>69614922
Have you seen his Law and Order ep? He knew how to pull off being a crazy psychopath
>>69619639

>>69619916
>>69619684
You only embarrass yourself.
>>69617049
was that Cam from Modern Family?
Broderick must be feeling like shit now. He had a chance to become something other than Ferris Bueller and revive his career.
