Yeah, the guy who plays Lee doesn't have much charisma but the parkour and martial arts are pretty high-tier for a broadcast cop show. Carter is alright and his random cousin makes for decent enough comedic relief, and as you said the latina girl is hot. Not bad, not great. If it is renewed I'd watch it, but if it isn't, I wouldn't miss it either.

1 & 2 are fucking classics though, and 4 is solid.5 and 6 are great but there is something off about Mel and Danny in those two.

And while the early 90s gang violence was a real problem (1993 was the most violent year on record in the city I grew up in, and I remember that summer), they handled the subject like shit in the movie making it pretentious preachy bullshit with downright inaccurate firearms nomenclature (oh yeah, another thing with Lethal Weapon 3, they were constantly saying CLIP, I think that is when that meme started), and hamfisted emotional appeals about saving the children (which was the typical go-to bullshit starting in the late 80s early 90s).
I'm sorry I triggered you by using the simplistic "dindu nuffin" to describe that horribly done side arc. It was easier than writing that paragraph about their amateur-hour nomenclature or the ham-handed emotional appeals for the cause du-jour at the time.

The only reason the series worked was because of Donner, Black and the cast. This movie has none of those things, the grit has been scrubbed away completely.
I hope they keep the plotline of the South Africans killing Riggs' wife though, just so I can see them try and figure out a way to make South African terrorists relevant in 2016.
