>>
>>69423462

I would actually argue that's quite an achievement for civil war. I mean, you're not really supposed to think "Oh there's music playing as I am watching this movie" and then think about that piece of music rather than what the music is supposed to enhance in the movie.

of course when people use music in movies to deliberately mark a period in time, you instead use it to remind of you a specific era. You play Beatles and people will kind of automatically assume the setting in 60s, specific song selection could then allow you to narrow it down to year or month. Not that you'd be able to get the rights to Beatles for your movie but I think you see my point.

However having a vague and unmemorable score yet still competently made, makes you think of a less well defined era in time. The music ceases to be a piece of exposition but works to elevate the rest of the films qualities.

The only part of the BvS score that I remember is that theme that played in the ''IS SHE WITH YOU'' scene plays.

Seriously, you have Batman asking Superman that, while this shitty fucking electronic song plays in the background, it's fucking hilarious.

They tried so hard to make Wonder Woman look ''badass'' but it completely backfired.
>>
>>69424438
Only because it's already in there. Check out Zod's message:

https://youtu.be/mTpzhfH8vC8?list=PL42rZ9F2TCklQr2PKp7qhdPro-foWyuZD&t=119

Now compare the tone of it and the delivery method to this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCcdr4O-3gE

Even the words that appear on-screen in Zod's broadcast are interesting, as they're evocative of another movie from long ago. I think maybe this is Snyder telling his audience to expect something a bit different than your typical cape movie.

He's telling us to expect science fiction.
>>
As long as we can all agree that The Amazing Spider-Man has the worst capeshit ost of all time, followed by the Amazing Spider-Man 2 with it's only benefit over it's predecessor being that at least it's more memorable. (Even if it's only for being so hack)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yR4e1KK3qkQ
>>
>>69424481
It's true though and you know it. Eisenberg making his way the Zod's ship with that music going and then it slows down while he's talking to the government dude. The hint of Wonder Woman's theme when Bruce is looking at the old photo. Batman's theme every time it comes up.

>>
>>69424677
It all sounds the same yet each song is completely different in tone, speed, and sound. You just can't admit that this shit is super memorable. Zimmer and Junkie XL turned bombastic background music into earworms. More than you can say for marvel. Most interesting music was iron man by black sabbath at the end of the first movie.
>>
>>69424680
I don't know. Why don't you go first for a change?

I'm laughing at all of you, but the angry manchildren like you are just far more entertaining to provoke, because the other side engages in actual debate while idiots like you just spew bile and anger, because that's all they have to bring to the game. It's by far the more entertaining side to troll.

Superman's piano theme is perfect, it represents hope rising and falling. Notice how the first four notes of the leitmotif do so. It appears in really emotional moments, whenever Clark is having doubts on how to act, hinting at the climax, but never reaching it. The theme is also hinted by playing the first note in a pivotal scene in the third act, after being hit by the nuke The theme finally reaches the climax when he sacrifices himself, and it's my personal favorite, just fucking beautiful after building it throughout the entire movie.

You fucking spergs making out Zimmer's faux wagnerian orgasmic organ smash to be "incredible" are utter and complete plebs. It has nothing but gravitas, but of course that's all a retarded pleb associates with "good" classical. Faggots probably don't even appreciate Mozart and Bach because they aren't "epic"
>>
>>69424923
To be fair, John Murphy ripped off a lot of his own music from other movies for the Kick-Ass score. "Big Daddy Kills" is just a slightly different version of "In the House, in a Heartbeat", and "Strobe" is just a faster version of that theme from "Sunshine"

Danny Elfman is far better than Zimmer imo
>AoU
about equivalent to the BvS, although MoS still has the best theme for capeshit that I can remember.
>Winter Soldier
Good elements but pretty monotonous in terms of that rhythmic string ostinato thing. Typical capeshit/blockbuster music.
>Iron Man
Eh. Its ok. Its more typical blockbuster stuff, neither good nor bad imo. Not particular distinct unless you were really familiar with the movie.
>X-Men Theme
This is one of the better ones. Again you can notice that semi-schlocky hollywood string ostinato stuff. But its more nuanced and I certainly still remember this as a standout theme. Good stuff.
>Spiderman
Probably the best of all of these. Fucking great movie and pretty damn good music too. Again, music by Danny Elfman. I think this is another good example of why he's a better composer than Zimmer. Way less monotonous and less overbearing. At least as I find it. Zimmerman hasn't become a near self-parody or "brand" or inception-esque music.

This rivals MoS imo.

the part of the batman begins score that zimmer did (James Newton Howard teamed up with him on that movie) is 6/10 at best, so to say it's his best work is accurate.

Reminder that all the best DC music is from the old movies, and working on the DCEU forced Zimmer into retirement.

Also, the only memorable Marvel theme is the Avengers theme, and that is only because Silvestri worked on it

>>69424045
Jesus christ that's overbearing. I like the opening semi-dissonant ponticello but Zimmer doesn't know when the fuck to die down the orchestration. Improves towards the end though. Its not bad, but when things stand out that much to me it seems more annoying.

>>69424142
Fair bit of genericness since its soundtrack stuff, but those harmonizing flutes are such a nice touch a dig it, its a nice theme.

>>69424341
>Iron man 3
Actually stands out as its own thing for once since its not doing the psudo-orchestrated glitsy string schtick. Dem horns and trumpets. Fucking GOAT theme even if it isn't as "epic".

>>69424341
Another one that's got way more personality since its less reliant on the soundtrack cliches. Nice to have fuller sound rather than the god damn tired routine of giant choral rises and driving strings.

>>69424417
Same driving orchestrated stuff as before. Its got nice weightness and scale but its nothing remarkable really.

>>69424588
Pretty bad. Must be by Explosions in the Sky, its very very post rocky and completely unmemorable.

I wouldn't go the far. Before he was known as the BRRAAAAHH inception-guy I thought this was a pretty fucking sick theme for a scene that needed this level of gravitas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eN5ExwsXUiQ

And considering that there's actually a organ/celeste in the movie, its actually suitable rather than just used for block chords.

>>69424923
