No there's a difference between vague lore and subtle lore. Fury Road has a lore which can be inferred from its background but no actual way to confirm anything. Dark Souls has a lore put forth through facts from item descriptions and people talking.
You can actually build a timeline using all the games that shows the rise of different Lords and what they did. Fury Road gives a general idea, not a specific set of events. Both work well though.

Spielberg still made Indiana Jones. His input would have been incredibly useful in terms of helping create an amazing Halo adventure(esqe) trilogy. The guy's been there.
Del Taco is good with visuals...so there's that.
Peter Jackson was also involved, and when he's not being fucked by a rushed schedule, that guy can make a masterpiece. I'm confident that his collaboration with Niell would have made for an OP Halo movie series.
