Chrissy is definitely the best character because he's the most tragic. I guess for a young guy like me (and most of you) he's the easiest to relate to because he's a young man, trying to prove his worth in the world, always feeling undermined, trying to just get some basic respect, trying to establish a career and a name for himself.

You know, even though its popular to hate AJ, its because he is supposed to be hated by the viewer. AJ is actually a very good character in the show in terms of development and result. Most of this show is about subverting expectations of the viewer. The viewers of the show want AJ to BECOME the next Tony Soprano (meaning tough guy, family oriented, independent money maker) but we're left with this sorry piece of shit. And the reason why AJ is such a faggot is because Tony raised him that way in order to protect him from the "family business". It's only until its too late (season 4-5) that Tony realizes that he fucked up terribly in raising his kid and that he actually secretly wanted AJ to be just like him the whole time. AJ is a failure because Tony raised him to be a failure and even though he chose to have a failure over a mobster son, he feels like he fucked up.

Nah, 3 is the worst season by far. It's very scattered and messy, they had to hastily rewrite everything in response to the actress who played Livia's death, and it shows.
However, it's a testement to the Sopranos' strength that its weakest season is still a good season of television and manages to include some of the best moments/episodes of the whole series (Pine Barrens).

It's the season with the perfect balance of light and dark tones that mark the earlier and later seasons respectively.
