He loves his collection and shows it off at any opportunity, so he made a movie specifically so he could show the world.

Tom Cruise does more impressive shit than her and it's still not operatorcore. Do you not notice a huge difference between the movies recommended so far and fucking Edge of Tomorrow?
>>
>>69332080
I think the movie shows the difference between training and experience and preparation. Think about it, the first issue is what the 'saftey' on the weapon is, he didn't even know that but was told that in the movie as well. You see him develop through training and attitude change, it's really an interesting movie.

You don't see any movie really cover this progress other then Full Metal Jacket or Jarhead. Any other movie you'd show would have them start as operator, like people are born that way.

>Punisher (1989)

>>
>>69332323

Not that guy, but I consider "operatorcore" to be a movie/show where gunplay is an integral part and where shootouts are depicted as close to reality as possible, usually using real-life tactics. Edge of Tomorrow, while awesome, is Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt running and gunning with their massive machine guns.
>>
>>69332355
>>69332466

Operatorcore isn't about the characters who are in it, a movie about common criminals can be operatorcore (see Way of the Gun).
>>
>>69332343
What?

>>69332323
Operatorcore refers to movies that depict realistic efficient tactical firearm operations. Highly trained operators operating. Edge of Tomorrow is flashy fantasy action where characters jump around with swords and mech suits. FMJ and Jarhead aren't operatorcore either.
>>
>>69332018
>9mil is porbably not manly enough for Segal.
Probably so his underage rape victim's can't get a quick one on him
>>
>>69332469
"Operator" is a pc term for mercenary
The name came around the time the US was using mercs to fight in Iraq. You can't have the "good guys" using paid henchmen so the media and the mercs themselves took it upon themselves to do their share of public relations to cover up/rebrand the disgusting truth
>>
>>69332556
A crook is not an operator, he's a crook
Crooks can be good at handling themselves

>>69332469
Except for Power Exo Armor is suported by DARPA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powered_exoskeleton
It's closer too then further away, and they show a variation on uses of it, depicted in probably the most realistic future war in any sci-fi movie. That is closer to a real war in the future. The biggest issue is power cores, more than it is the exo armor.

The difference in this move to some of the Tom Clancy future war is that Exo Armor is really the next level. Personally I think it's realistic on more levels.

Except for movies like Collateral or retellings of war stories like Black Hawk Down and Saving Private Ryan, I don't find that much interest in a lot of the 'operatorcore'.

It's either you have a good stunt coordinator or not, and really you should just watch the REAL LIFE documentary of SWAT.
>>
>>69331358
This
That serie is operator godsend.
Some season of 24 jack goes full operator.
there is also Banshee where they go operator. (the heist gopro scene was pretty good)
Also Hunted from cinemax is pretty good too.
The Kill point is pretty good miniserie too.
>>
>>69332621
>"That engraving gives you no tactical advantage whatsoever"
>Seagal has some of his handguns engraved in this scene

I wonder if he would shit his pants if Snake got him in a CQC hold
>>
>>69332572
Yeah, so that's why I don't like Operatorcore, if FMJ and JArhead are not considered Operatorcore. They're more realistic depiction of what an operator goes through, as opposed to the 30 minutes where they look specatularly badass.

I think the true spectacle of operators is the sheer amount of training and dedication. The Unit is pretty good depiction of operators, best I've ever seen and a damn fun show to watch too. It goes a bit looloo later on, but it still shows the real dedication to the trade, rather then expertise in showmanship.

As well as the first show I think that shows accurately how a skyhook works.
>>
>>69332715
So are we agreed Snake is operator?
>>
>>69332747
Big Boss and Solid Snake have both been a part of a special forces group. They're operators.
>>
>>69332747
Not him but yeah, he's the definition of one
>>
>>69332620

But operatorcore isn't about whether the characters can be classified as operators, but about how gunplay is handled in a movie.

>>
>>69332620

Operators are operators regardless of their line of work.

A heist is just another op.
>>
>>69335064
>Once upon a time you had to be a member of one of two units in US Special Operations to be considered an operator. Those units were SEAL Team Six and Delta Force and only those who passed selection and training were entitled to call themselves that, not support personnel or those on the periphery.

lmao this fucking kid

>>69329155
mann is always like that with the realism, but mv is more of a romantic movie rather than full blown operating
>>
>>69332724
>They're more realistic depiction of what an operator goes through, as opposed to the 30 minutes where they look specatularly badass.

But that's wrong. FMJ and Jarhead are specifically about the basic training of a United States Marine. Joker in FMJ isn't even a combat MOS. They don't even show the School of Infantry portion of Marine Corps training that a basic Marine would even go through.

A more realistic portrayal of what an operator goes through is something like Sicario. Nobody needs to tell people about the safety of a firearm because it is implied that everyone already knows what they are doing. You don't know shit about operators or what makes a movie "operatorcore".

>>
>>69332602
In military infantry subcultures 'operator' has come to signify any direct action personnel that are linked with any Special Operations Forces units. Formerly it was used informally to describe any member of CAG/SFOD-D.
