I think what I like about the actual fight between Freddy and Jason is that Jason isn't there to fight. He's just trying to kill Freddy like he's any other victim. Freddy is basically Jason's "final girl/guy" who gives him a hell of a lot more trouble than all of the victims preceding her/him. Freddy's angle is, "I'm Freddy fucking Krueger!" but Jason is ignorant and don't give a shit. It would be like Hannibal Lecter versus the shark from Jaws.

I don't know, I like Englund's physical acting here. His little gestures (the half-bow at "So you're the one everyone's afraid of), how expressive he is even under all the makeup (the "oh fucking shit" expression at seeing Jason in the real world), all of it's just fucking top notch.
For all Freddy vs. Jason's faults, it had the good sense to have fun with the premise and let the main attractions take center stage. It beats the rote paint-by-the-numbers approach of the Ft13th and ANoES remakes.
