David Lynch and Mark Frost left not too long after episode 9 to work on stuff like Wild at Heart and On The Air, and whoever replaced them in the writer's room did a horrible fucking job. They do come back for the final episode though, which is GOAT. I would recommend watching the bad episodes because while most of it is filler the main Cooper plot was outlined by Lynch before he left and he picks it back up in that last episode. At the very least watch the episode before the finale.
