interesting fact i learned today: in kubrick's original outline, wendy returns to the pantry after locking jack in and finds it opened, then he ambushes her and she stabs him to death. halloran returns to the hotel and speaks to grady's ghost and it's revealed that halloran is just as much under control of the hotel as jack was. the chase scene plays out but with halloran trying to kill danny and wendy instead of jack. wendy ultimately kills halloran as well.
