What's your thoughts on this?

I wish he were doing something else desu. Really don't give a fuck about a new Avatar movie let alone three or four.
>>
>>69237334
That doesn't sound complicated at all.

these movies are going to be a trainwreck on a completely unprecedented and unimaginable scale. can't wait

Isn't that how they filmed the LOTR trilogy?

And they're the greatest movies of this century (so far)
>>
>>69237418
Any rewrites will be a colossal undertaking.
>>
>>69237334
I think this article's title is three words too many
>>
>>69237334
He's going to ruin literally all his good will and LOSE two billion dollars since no one will see this

In fact he knows no one is going to watch them that's why he's doing them at once, shit they might even be good but no one gives a shit about Avatar anymore
>>
>>69237467
I think so yeah
>>
>>69237499
i do =[
>>
the special effects won't even be cutting edge anymore by the time the final few come out, and what the fuck do these movies even have going for them without that?
>>
>>69237499
China.

China will lap his shit up and make sure its a hit.
>>
>>69237467
>>69237505
Yes, they filmed all 3 films at once, excluding callbacks. Return of the King almost got delayed because of post-production.
>>
>>69237467
Yep, I don't think it's as big of a deal as the author or Big Jim seem to think.

Peter Jackson probably read that and shrugged in between signing off on more Alfrid Lickspittle merchandise.
>>
>>69237467

LOTR was one of the biggest gambles ever done by Hollywood though, WB literally would have died if they bombed after they had almost 2 years of consecutive big budget bombs in the late 90s

Not really, China is at the point now where its domestic movies are at a high enough quality that they can compete with Hollywood films domestically. The only movies that have done really well in China lately from Hollywood are animated

I wouldn't say it's a gamble by now. I mean he's number 1 AND 2 and even those shitty companies can't do that. If he actually has a story this time it can only mean they make lots of money again. Pretty sure most people are tired of capeshit anyway
>>
>>69237690
The chinese market is so big that a movie can flop anywhere else and still get sequels if it did descent money over there (Terminator: Genysis, Need for Speed).

And they loved Avatar (which is basically 70% animated anyway), because they see it as an allegory for their ongoing housing problem debate and people being forced from their homes by the government.

That's one of the big reasons Avatar became the highest grossing movie of all times. The chinks still went to see it, when everybody else had moved on.

>The chinese market is so big that a movie can flop anywhere else and still get sequels if it did descent money over there (Terminator: Genysis, Need for Speed).

That isn't even remotely true. The biggest movies in China only make 2-300 million. And unlike the U.S. where the distributors get between 50 and 80% of the box ticket price, in China they get 25%...and only because China was nice and upped it from the 15% they were giving them up to two years ago.

>That's one of the big reasons Avatar became the highest grossing movie of all times. The chinks still went to see it, when everybody else had moved on.
That is beyond false. Avatar made about 200 million of its 2 billion foreign in China. Europe is what carried Avatar (France 170 mil, Germany 160 mil, UK 150 mil, Russia 120 mil, Italy 83 mil, etc...)

No one cares about Avatar anymore, Jim. Buy the rights to Terminator back and fix that shit, or better yet, do something new.
>>
>>69237993
I have no idea how anyone can defend these Avatar sequels.

Cameron should be working on a new Adult thriller movie and not these.

Stop encouraging a director with so much talent to waste his life on these pointless sequels which will turn into the pirates of the Caribbean sequels.
>>
>>69237561
can we hope for a lot of Chinese propaganda in the new movies then?

Spielberg has talent. Cameron is just lucky.

>Jim. Buy the rights to Terminator back and fix that shit, or better yet, do something new.
THIS.

This is what all his fans should be telling him.

Don't make Jim waste away on Avatar when he could be making so many other great original movies.

Avatar was an okay movie with great visuals; now it is time to do something darker like the first Terminator.

I mean we already have the new Jungle Book, so many other visual effects movies today, we do not need Avatar anymore!

What we need are Terminator thriller like films.

There has not been a good horror movie in ages.
>>
>>69238173
>now it is time to do something darker like the first Terminator.
Nah, darker movies is dead. Hollywood aren't doing that anymore. Enjoy your Disney movies, kids. It'll be around forever.

no fuck that.

I want more movies like the Gift that was released last year. Really good and more needs to be made like that.

No more Disney Zootopia stuff we have enough of that.

We need more horror/thrillers

Haven't you fucking learned by now? Jim ALWAYS delivers. Even if it's a shitty script, the visuals and tech are going to be ground breaking, with top tier action. You see, it's called VISION.

It simply won't happen. Even T2 was kid stuff compared to Terminator. Every action movies is shot for kids. We'll never get Die Hard, or Alien, or Blade Runner. Instead they make kid stuff. That's it. PG-13 is the highest they will go.
>>
>>69238262

We have five Die Hard movies right now.
>>

The 80s were such a weird time for movies. On one hand, the MPAA was chopping up horror movies like Friday the 13th to neuter them. Meanwhile, "family" movies had a harder edge to them than before or since (Goonies, Gremlins, Dark Crystal, etc), and R-rated movies were heavily marketed toward kids (Predator, Aliens, Rambo, and Robocop all had toylines and videogames). That trend has sort of gone by the wayside, but we still get the occasional Matrix, Dredd, or Deadpool.
>>
>>69238625
I had terminator and robocop toys as a kid before seeing either of them, the idea was badass to me.

>tfw favorite toy as a kid was big ass robocop that said "drugs are trouble"

The masses only remember it as ''That movie with the wierd blue people.''

This.

Avatar was so overhyped. It's a terrible movie and completely out of the minds of 99% of the people who watched it, and the fact Cameron is planning on multiple sequels is, quite frankly, laughable as fuck.
