It wasn't a good fight. You still never get the sense she'll lose, though I do felt the movie really picked up in its back half. Watched or read a commentary somewhere where the director talked about trying to make it feel like a modern day fairy tale, which wouldn've been cool, but it was only ever felt in the old man's house and that final scene.
