You now remember seeing this on the shelf at Blockbuster
>>69162018
Sheeit, my town didn't get a Blockbuster until '95. I saw it all the time at local mom and pop video stores though.
>>69162018
I honestly don't remember seeing that in a video store and I remember a good lot of them. Must be coincidence.
It's really fucking crazy. I had no idea what was going on up until the very end.
Some bitch had eyes for nipples
>>69162018
GET OUTTA MY HEAD MANNN!
>>69163349
>>69163383
These for sure.
why did all those campy horror movies have the best dvd covers?
>You now remember seeing this everytime you walked past the horror section, but never getting it because the face genuinely scared you
This is a good thread.
>>69162018
You now remember going to rent your game for the week and seeing this on the shelf.
You now also remember going home and crying like a little bitch because you couldn't pass the first stage, and having to get your dad to go return it to the store and try to convince them the game isn't working so you can swap it.
>>69163528
liked the 1st one better
3rd one kinda
2 felt really cheap for some reason
>>69162018
yup, and video square, and hollywood video
but always scared to get it
>>69163546
The only game I can ever remember returning the same day because it was too hard.
>>69162018
omfg this is true, kek.
>>69163470
>They will never make genuinely fun horror movies in the depths of the ocean or in space with a small cast of people fighting off a practical effects monster with a fuck load of blood
>You will never watch a new movie that is just pure FUN, without thinking "they did that to push an agenda... They cast that guy for muh diversity... Look how that woman can beat all the men up single handed... That guy just put his hands on his belt and said a phrase, I can't wait to go and post on /tv/ about the parallels between this scene and CIA"
>>69162018
There was no Blockbuster in my country
>>69163643
>John dies at the end
>>69163680
Seriously need more movies like John dies.
>>69163610
What about when you got an absolutely shitty game, like Total Recall? I feel bad for all the times I cried and made my dad return shit out of guilt.
As a 30 year old man, I'd probably tell my kid to fuck off and deal with it. My dad really did have patience, christ.
>>69163383
all the fuckin time
>>69163835
nobody remembers this movie but me
i remember the front of a ship in a dark stormy night with a skull on it the most but i forgot the name
i think it was pokemon card holographic spooky or something and the skull would shine into visibility as you walked by it
anybody know what im talking about
>>69163885
>implying

Same here, that skeleton butterfly gave me the creeps.
>>69162018

>>69163788
There were some really shitty games... but I'll never forget playing Chrono Trigger till 5am, listening for my parents, and turning off the TV when they went to the bathroom so the light would not shine under the door.
>starring David Carradine
i was always creeped out by a cover that looked like this. Cant remember what its called. Pretty much used the same design without the sci fi stuff.
>>69164068
it's a fucking dad-prog album
>>69163840
fuck yeah
>>69164076
no it was a movie cover im pretty sure.
>>69164068
there is a very high probability that you are thinking of "Future Kill". I never saw it, but I also remember the cover from the old video store, and I later learned that it was due to Giger.
This is a VERY, VERY, VERY GOOD THREAD.
Fortunatley i had a pretty awesome indie video store called Insomniac in my home town. Its long gone. Always creeped out by this. Watched it years later. Great stuff.
>>69164068
So much 80's bad film ripped off Giger and his designs
>>69163885
You're pissing me off, Roger!
>>69163706
this is getting remade
>>69164166
i dont think so
>>69164193
forgot pic
Anyone else who didn't walk around the vhs and dvd sections because they'd get too spooked by certain film covers? god damn i was a puss. just got video games.
Always was creeped out by this. Didnt realize it was what it was until years later.
>>69164241
yeah man, but then you would realize that the movie you wanted was right next to it so you would walk dead towards it while trying not to look but you would HAVE to look and your eyes would quickly shift to it as you grabbed the movie you wanted before turning away and running
>>69164244
yup. I remember this one quite well.
80's movies had the best cover art. really memorable

Same. I can only imagine how this would have influenced me if I rented it when I was 8 instead of waiting until I was 15 to see it.
>>69164244
>Didnt realize it was what it was until years later.
A bad movie?
Yeah me too
>>69164316
Exactly. The irony is that I probably would have liked it a lot if I hadn't been too scared by it. The poster makes it look way creepier than it was. I always thought the eyes were feminine and horror movie covers with feminine looking monsters always freaked me out.
>>69164208
Interesting. I know I'd seen it when I was going through a Cronenburg binge, but I remember nothing about it. The cover art always unnerved me though.
>>69164332
No, that its a goof and a spoof. Not a very serious horror film. Also, its not bad man.
Newfags don't even know about the best movie ever.
>how that fucking cyclops died....
>>69164283
I think so too, but somehow I don't think the actual movie lives up to it.
At least it apparently has Marilyn Burns and a notable Giger association!
Here's something else I've never seen, but I vividly remember staring at it many times in the video store.
>>69164304
I'm sorry, you mean A Brother's Justice?
>>69164377

Can we extend this thread to movies from the kid's section?
>>69164390
I've seen this one, and it's terrible. Or maybe I'm thinking of 976-Evil. They probably both suck.
>>69164448

not trolling, The first Evil Dead is a horror classic, the sequels turn it into idiotic stoner comedies

had to google this to see if you were having a laff or not

an underrated classic
>You sneakily edge your way towards the boarder between the horror section and the porn section
>You're leaving in 3 minutes but you haven't picked anything

I cannot believe how many of these movies there are. Even as a kid I couldn't keep track when they would be on tv.
>>69164534

My mom rented this for me once thinking it was an Austin Powers movie
Wew
>>69164601

I thought the plant monster in this would sing like the one in Little Shop of Horrors.
It didn't.
ugh, why
>>69164495
You're right, in that the first one was real horror while the next two were more like comedies. Did you honestly not enjoy Evil Dead 2, though?
i remember in blockbuster always talking about triple x rated films and how i thought they were super gory intense horror movies or something
Someone remind me, before Blockbuster went under, did they still rent out porn videos?
>>69164853
They never rented out porn, they even had policy of putting 'Parental Advisory' stickers on unrated movies, even direct to video children's videos.
I'm watching Creepshow 2 right now, it and the first one are comfy as fuck. The covers used to freak me out as a kid, too.
>>69163610
nintendo difficulty was a scam
before the internet you needed a a subscription to nintendo power just to read where the crazy secrets were to further the game. it was bullshit, how is anyone else supposed to know to kneel for 5 seconds at the lake with the blue gem selected in castlevania II?!

Thanks. I wasn't sure. I think it was a video rental place near me in Jersey that we got our movies from that had a XXX section. The place was called "MOOvies". And next to the neon sign was a picture of a cow. I'm not making this up.

This thread has reminded me of a movie i saw as a kid. The main character is this kid, and his new stepmother is some kind of green monster that disguised itself as a Human. That's basically all I can remember about it. Anyone know the title?
>>69167862
>>69167905
Nah not that one. She's this grinch looking monster that eats the neighbours and several pet dogs if i remember correctly.
I think I'll watch that one regardless.

I also remember always seeing pic related series, they looked cool.
>>69170884
Fuck AIDS for taking the brilliant film poster painter Richard Amsel away from us
There's this movie I'm trying to remember from the 80s/90s. It had a serial killer in it, wore a gimp mask. Murdered a family in one scene. One of the characters was an insane guy that was killed by the serial killer. But there was there collection of the dead that brought him back. There was also a blonde guy that was supposed to be the lead (maybe) and a really hot chick (one of the dead) that couldn't touch sunlight. The dead were the good guys trying to stop something. Had a vaguely "adventure" feel to it.
Someone help, please. I've been trying to remember what movie that was for a long time.
