The whole problem stems from not having grey area characters.
When you think a good plot can stem from good guys/ bad guys then you're cancer to the cause.
This is why DOFP was so good.
There should be different factions with conflicting and also beneficial ideals with other factions and make those political viewpoints a big point in their dialogue and character development.
