This movie would not have been made without a big name. The IP isnt hot enough, the effects budget is too high to crank it out with a bunch of fucking nobodies.

You can't really say that this is character has to be played by a Japanese actress, hell maybe the character isn't even Japanese. I know that in the source material she is, but this is a movie adaptation. As long as they change the narrative to fit the current actress it doesn't really matter.
Example:
MC and her family are in Japan when they get in a huge car accident as a child, both her parents die and she needs extensive surgery and robotic prosthetics. Because no documentation survived or any identifying markers on her parents, she is then adopted into a family that renames her.
You can easily have this just be a flashback or whatever to explain her robotic parts, and show how she needs to switch them out periodically as she grows.
My main point is that as long as the narrative allows it, then there's no problem with a white actress playing the character. Hell even the original publisher of GITS didn't envision her as Japanese.
Forget about the major, we can all agree that Batou HAS to be played by John Cena right?

I don't understand what we're supposed to infer from this poll. The options are fairly even. The majority don't care very much. Or are you just trying to start a discussion about casting?
They can cast whoever they like. If it makes the movie bad, then the movie is bad. Judge the end product as a whole, not the individual pieces.
